Hi, all! I'm writing in response to my previous thread wherein I detailed my scary experience with androcur:
http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... -permanent
I'm very glad to tell you that the effects turned out not to be permanent. It took a long time, but I have some of my function back! I went on a diet and exercise regimen, and I lost about 80 lbs and gained some muscle over the months since my last thread, and steadily along with those bits of progress, I saw my testosterone levels rise (with monthly tests at my new endocrinologist) from 45 to my current level of 294.
I know that is still quite low, and I am still not back to how I was before I tried Androcur, but I'm just very excited that I did not truly have permanent effects.
The details for those who are curious:
Libido has returned pretty well.
Testicular size has partially returned. Probably about half the original size, but still much improved.
Erections are strong enough to have sex, but I still never get morning erections.
Ejaculate volume is still only just a drop or two, so I'm probably infertile. I have not had any tests done on sperm counts or quality, so I don't know for sure.
I'm pretty happy with this progress, and I just wanted to follow up on that and to thank you all for your support and information previously.

That is good to know. Thank you for informing us!
Was that simply waiting in hope you did to return your balls to work, or was there something else assisting you?

Re: Update on my "Adrocur effects became permanent" thread
As someone who's been on T-blockers for what's coming up on 3 years now, I'm really surprised that any of those effects are even possible. Balls the size of a peppercorn? Becoming COMPLETELY sexually impotent after only a month on Androcur and being off the meds for over a year afterward? For me, it took almost 6 months for my sexual function to drop to its present level, and even then, 3 years after I started, I still get erections way more easily than I wish I did. And honestly, I don't think that the size of anything down there has changed very much. If it has, it's maybe 10%-20% at the most, because I've barely noticed it. And that's despite me actively trying to NOT have these things happen, and yet they still do. And my T levels were like 22 ng/dL at my last blood test, so it's not because it hasn't been effective.
So, well, I guess it's a serious YMMV thing?

Re: Update on my "Adrocur effects became permanent" thread
I stopped drinking alcohol, and just went with diet and exercise. I lost weight, and it seemed like as I did that, things improved. I also went to a different endocrinologist who gave me more hope and support.
cheetalking243, I also said in the other thread, the peppercorn thing was an exaggeration born of despair. It was not THAT small, but much decreased from my earlier size. Though I never got a T level from before, I think I probably had low testosterone to start with, and I've always had a lot of feminine fat distribution to begin with.
