Ouch...

You know that achy, kicked-in-the-nuts feeling you get about three hours after Dr. Arnkoff cuts out your testicles, when the xylocaine really starts wearing off? Man, that really sucks.

Just sayin'.

Yep, and it hurts. I'm getting up and walking around the room every hour or so. But every time I put weight on my right leg it feels like somebody is giving my right nut a solid tug. I'm hoping it gets quite a bit better by tomorrow morning, or its going to be a pretty miserable flight, or I should say flights home.

It will, but it takes a couple of days. Keep taking your pain medicine, or I found ibuprofen worked well.

I use a lot of ibuprofen for headaches and other general pain. But it is off limits for 3-4 days as it, and pretty much the entire NSAID family, are blood thinners which can increase bleeding until the incision heals up a bit. Right now I'm bleeding about a drip per minute, so I don't want to risk speeding it up much.

It's not horrible pain, but I imagine I'd be singing a different tune without the Lortab! I suppose laying around it's about a 3/10 and walking is a 5/10. This is my first real surgery ever, so I suppose I don't have much to compare it to.

It will take time. I was surprised by the pain in my gut. Not in my sac, but near my kidneys.

So how was the experience? What are your best memories? Did you have big balls?

Congrats! You'll be fine, ultimately. Just take it easy for a while.

That may well be the first time I've ever been asked if I had big balls. But I suppose they we're above average... a fine Scottish pair! They served me well.

Dr. Arnkoff was fantastic. I'm very squeamish of needles and things to begin with, and on top of that I was up all night puking my guts out at the hotel with a category five migraine. I only got four hours sleep the night before that with my travel arrangements, so I was/am pretty exhausted, but it's not one of those things you can really reschedule. Anyway, he was very friendly and very matter-of-fact about things. He and the nurse told me everything I needed to know and warned me about things they we're doing next. He kept up a good conversation to keep my mind off the dozens is scissor snips. Overall, I think it was about as good of an experience as it could have been, considering the condition I was in when I showed up at his office. I was quite surprised at how quick it was over. He even let me take several photos of the progress during the procedure. I didn't dare look at then at the time, but my wife loves medical stuff.

For the record, the procedure was almost painless. I didn't feel any pain afterwards for about 90 minutes when the xylocaine started to wear off. But it's been all downhill since then. I'm probably at a constant 7/10 now even on the pain meds!

Hope it all continues to go well.

I used ice, but soon discovered that it might be more comfortable not much heals when its that cold.

Take the meds and it gets better.

Congratulations and welcome to our exclusive fellowship! I hope that you heal quickly. Ice packs do help. This is a new chapter in your life and I hope that everything works out well for you.
