Man dies after ‘river deity’ bit off his penis

A 25-year old man who defied tradition to fish in a river has died after an unknown creature bit off his penis at Tunfa in the Eastern Region.

Kofi Wireko plunged into River Rodu to clean himself after the fishing expedition, with a friend, when the tragedy occurred.

Reports say while in the water he felt a sharp pain in his manhood which forced him out of the water.

He found to his surprise that part of his penis was gone with blood oozing profusely from the remaining piece.

A native of the town, who identifies himself as Anafranaku, in an interview on Nhyira News said they have no idea what might have bit the man while he was swimming in the river.

Kofi Wireko died on his way to the hospital and the body has been deposited in the morgue.

Anafranaku says a local fetish priest has cited the deceased and his friend for committing an abomination, which can bring calamity to the town.

Chiefs and elders in the town will have to perform some rituals to pacify the gods in order to prevent any further calamity, the priest added.

Scary how some harmless naked swimming to clean yourself off can end up killing a man. I get naked in lakes, rivers, oceans, stock ponds all the time. Some fishermen do warn me about hungry fish feeding in the surf when I m in the ocean. So now men need to start wearing jocks with metal cup protectors just to take a swim or a bath?

Here s proof of how dangerous and life threatening losing a penis is, or how even a major cut on a penis can kill a grown man in his prime at age 25 !!
