This seemed to be the best place to post something odd. That and Andrew and Bboy should be interested in this one.
I paid a Christmas visit to Auntie on the Solstice a few days ago. As I was just coming up on the porch and ready to open the door, I looked down and saw a small black kitten by the door. He was all black, much like Andrew's Pearly, with only a small white spot on his chest. He looked up at me with blazing green eyes and ran right in the house when I opened the door.
He then jumped up on the arm of her favorite chair and promptly set up housekeeping. She took one look at him and said, "Do I know you?" He then proceeded to jump on her lap and try to sharpen his claws on her leg. He smacked him, and he rolled over on his back, purring in delight, flicking his tail while the other 4 cats promptly ignored him.
What is very strange is that he looks just like another cat that she had from about ten years ago and has the same mannerisms. Odd that he showed up on the Winter Solstice just as the sun was going down.
As the old saying goes, "the cat came back."

I am not sure about the "life after death" thing.
I only hope (and pray) that there is Death After Life...

Re: The Cat on the Winter Solstice
I am not a cat lover by nature but years ago I did have a black cat that if he were to stop at my door and ask to come in the house would be his to rule. He was one in a million. I guess I will need to remember to leave the door open on the winter solstice from now on.

Re: The Cat on the Winter Solstice
When Vi was a little girl somebody called and told them that their black cat had been hit by a car. Of course, she and her sister had a crying jag over it and they had a cat funeral and my father-in-law buried it in their back yard.
Well, they cried and cried and then finally went to sleep that night. You know how little girls are...
The next day the cat was at the door meowing to get in to be fed.
They had buried somebody else's dead cat.
Moral: Things are not always what they seem to be so be careful what you try to bury because it can come back.
(Yes, it is a true story)

Cats are like the smaller varieties of poodle. They are great!
If you cook them in the right marinade.

There is something wrong about BBQ'ing something you played "fetch" with.
