My urologist wasn't the one who prescribed estrogen--she only handled my orchiectomy. My regular physician prescribed estradiol for me. The key is to find a physician who prescribes hormone therapy based on "informed consent." My doctor made sure I understood the possible changes, possible side effects, etc. She did the same when I asked about bumping the dose up from 2mg to 3mg per day. She has always left it entirely up to me, while making sure that I receive full information to guide my decisions.

My doctors will not do anything till I see the shrink. The hot flashes are quite bothersome, worse at night. Is there something I can use that I do not require a perscription for as there is a 2 year waiting time to get into see the shrink. Very frustrating trying to navigate the health system up here.

Right now I am off of estrogen and progesterone and am cycling ashwagandha, forskolin, and mucuna pruriens. I am also adding l-taurine and occasionally d-aspartic acid to my drinks. It seems to be making my hot flashes a bit milder and giving me a better overall state of mind. I'm still hoping to avoid going on testosterone and am happy so far.

I'm in the process of switching from TRT to low dose of estrogen.... Just saw Dr last week and he instructed me to stop T for a month prior to prescribing estrogen. I'd already gone 17 days prior to the appt without T so it will end up being almost 2 months.
