Am i just missing something about the structures? Is this something that others have experienced, and if so, did it go away?

Post-Castration Weird Mass Inside?
i had my orchiectomy twelve days ago. All is going well, except one weird thing that i can't figure out. i could swear that when i initially felt the sac, there was nothing in there. Soon after, however, it began to feel as if there was a thick, tough mass extending from further inside me, reaching out and connecting with where my incision was. For a day or two, it seemed like maybe this was just swelling behind the incision, but it reaches back into my body. my only guess is it may be swollen cords, but if so, why would it feel as if it was attached to the inside of my incisions? i can't possibly imagine any reason for the surgeon to have done that.

Re: Post-Castration Weird Mass Inside?
I'm wondering whether it might be a hydrocele. That's basically like a blister inside the body. My hubby has spermatoceles, which are similar except filled with sperm instead of water, and they're almost like a third, lumpy testicle. You might Google the term hydrocele and see whether the description you see matches what you're feeling. The good news, if you want to think of it that way, is that it's not serious, though it won't go away on its own.

Re: Post-Castration Weird Mass Inside?
I had a very similar occurrence within about a week of the surgery. There were adhesions inside which I swear where the spermatic cord was pulling the incision inward. I mention this to my urologist on my first return visit but he said no. It took several months but the adhesion slowly either dissolved or broke loose. It was something I did not expect and I really believed the surgery was somewhat botched but obviously probably just part of the healing process. Unless it is painful I would not be too concerned.

Sounds like a hematoma to me, I had 2 of them, one for each nut removed. They can become very painful if they get too much pressure built up. They go away after 3-6 months.

My orchiectomy was a couple months ago, and I think I'm experiencing kind of the same thing. It feels like the right spermatic cord somehow connected to the inside of the scrotum, pretty much right at the incision site. It isn't causing any pain or discomfort, so I'm not really worrying about it.

Re: Post-Castration Weird Mass Inside?
Thanks, everyone! It's really helpful to know this isn't unusual. i just talked with my urologist by phone, and she said its nothing to worry about. Most likely swelling, along with the fact that there are a lot of underlying stitches inside. It will all subside. She was happy to have me come in for a check if i wanted, but since i'm not having any pain and it sounds like a non-issue, i'll just wait for my regular surgical follow-up appointment. Whew!!

Often when an internal body part is removed fluid fills the space until the body adjusts. When I was first castrated the fluid made me look like I still had testicles. I did not have any problems with the cords since I had mine cauterized.

Personally, I think you're worried about nothing. However, if you're unsure it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor about it.

Yes, i think you're right. i'm just going to wait until my post-surgical follow-up and not worry about it now.
