Medical students cut newborn's penis instead of umbilical cord

Post by SplitDik (imported) »

It is pretty common that an umbilical cord is mistaken for a penis (it's a boy! oh, wait it's a girl!) but this is the other way around. It is unclear from the article how serious the injury was -- seems like it was only foreskin, but hard to say.

CENShock: Diego and Zulem claim they were not told of what was happening to their son

A newborn baby's penis was almost cut off by bungling medical students as they tried to remove the tot's umbilical cord, it has been claimed.

The trainees are then said to have whisked the baby away to surgery to repair the damage.

But dad Diego Rangel Izaguirre says he and his wife were not told pf what had happened, and only became concerned after being denied access to their newborn.

He said the students at Saltillo hospital, in Mexico, told him his son had suffered "a minor accident".

CENZulem Contreras gave birth at a hospital in the City of Saltillo, Doctors told her husband Diego Rangel Izaguirre that the boy had suffered "a minor accidentComplaint: Mum Zulem says her son should not have been treated by medical students

Mr Izaguirre, said: "When my child was born and they cut his umbilical cord they injured his penis. And unfortunately when the surgeon started sewing it, he made other two new injuries, almost two centimetres deep"

Mum Zulem Contreras said: "This shouldn’t have happened, they should have assigned a gynaecologist to take care of him, not students".

The couple have made an official complaint but hospital officials claim the newborn is healthy and that the operation was both minor and consented by the parents.

A hospital spokesman said: "During the cut of the umbilical cord the skin of the prepuce was accidentally injured and repaired through the usual circumcision process that was consented by the parents."

"The Regional Delegation rejects the versions spread by media according to which the genitals of a newborn "were cut" in the General Hospital no. 1. "

Despite the denial, the hospital has launched an internal investigation.

I'd say those med students have a brilliant career in pumping gasoline ahead of them.

Personally, I'd hunt them down...some years later...and have my way with them.

Seems that some ladies in Kenya are chopping parts of their boozing (and therefore not attentive) men:
