Finally Scheduled for Surgical Castration!

i finally heard from the scheduler this morning, and i'm officially scheduled for an orchiectomy on the morning of Thursday, August 13th! There's a chance that it could actually be moved up to the 12th, but i won't know that for a while.

Can't wait to finally be rid of the testicles that should never have been attached to me in the first place!!

Congratulations. I admit that I haven't read all your posts, but I think you've mentioned you're polyamorous and it seems you got a diagnosis of gender dysphoria including the proper psychiatrist recommendations for orchiectomy. I'm curious on how you presented yourself for the gender dysphoria -- did they recognize you as more of a MtF or an MtE? I think you mentioned you take some estrogen, but it wasn't clear to me how feminine you planned to present or go surgically (I think you want penile inversion but without fully formed vagina?). But mostly I'm curious if psychiatrists and surgeons are now recognizing MtE. What was the main thing that convinced them -- was it simply a history of serious genital self-harm, or more of a psychological aspect like you saying you "hated being a man", "I want to be a non-binary gender". It sounds like with the right doctors the approach was pretty fast -- only a few months? Lastly, did you get this support in Seattle, or did you have to seek it elsewhere? Thanks in advance for any advice you can share about pursuing this path.

i was clear with them that i did not identify as male, but i was "definitely not" female. i identify as neutrois, or third-gender, so it was ultimately more like MtN. Along with gender identity dysphoria itself, i stressed my dysmorphia particularly as it manifested toward the male-appearing genitals attached to me. i was open about incidents of attempted harm, both in terms of physical treatment and self-medication. Simultaneously with my consultations with doctors and therapists (and with their approval/cooperation), i weaned myself off of testosterone, as i had been TRT-dependent for several years. Eventually, i chose to go on low dose estrogen to correct for some of the problems zero-T can cause, while not creating any rapid feminizing changes. i still appear "on the street" as typically masculine, and intend for my gender expression to remain more or less unchanged in that sense. This was also in part due to the fact that erections really were becoming nothing more than reminders of what did not belong attached to me. As things stand (or not) right now, erections only happen when very intentionally created during intimacy---no more spontaneous occurances.

i was fortunate to find excellent referrals for the medical and psychiatric care related to my transition here in Seattle. After the orchiectomy is completed, yes, i will be seeking a penile inversion without full female-appearing reconstruction. That will require working with surgeons outside the local area.

So did the surgeon require estrogen? Do u plan on staying on it after surgery or switching back to T?

The surgeon did not require estrogen. i had experimented with it for about four months during my (unwise) self-medication phase, and liked how it made me feel. When i reached the point of basically zero testosterone, i started to have night sweats and became far more irritable than before. i also really didn't want to deal with the erections that continued. Seeing this, i talked with my doctor about adding the estrogen and we agreed it would be a good idea. So far, i'm very happy with it!

i'm honestly not sure yet whether or not i will go back on testosterone after both of my surgeries are done. i definitely plan to stick with just estrogen at least until there's no more external male genitals to deal with, but once the inversion is done i may consider going back to a maintenance level of testosterone. i'll be working further with my doctor and therapists on making that decision when the time comes.

Will your orchiectomy be under general or local anesthesia? Through the scrotum or inguinally?
