Note: Video link
Summary: Pink for boys and blue for girls right? No? What are societal gender roles anyway and are they good or bad to keep in our everyday lives?

Not sure, but I believe that the pink for girls is only hundred years or so old. Before that, it had no such label.
Take a look at what is in store for the Mens Fashion for spring 2016. It seems that silky shirts, lace and whatnot is all back in again. Maybe as now gender becomes less binary, other items/ideas will also be shared?

Mind you, until the 1850ies, pink (as a variant from red, a hot, agressive colour) was for boys, and blue (being a cold, thus "peaceful" colour) was for girls. How it got to change, I don't know, but when you look at medieval imagery, you see those nobles wearing pink cassocks, and you know they had biceps like we have tighs, and were, physically, brutes not a single Texas Redneck would ever be able to meet on a ring...

Seems to me that many cultures understood and accepted
gender beyond two choices.
Blame Judeo Christianity if y'need to blame anyone.
