Depo Provera - libido versus potency

Hi there,

I am a 35 year old guy, and for some reasons I started depo provera shots a few weeks ago. After at least two weeks I notice some slight shrinkage and now more morning wood. Also sexual fantasies are getting a bit less.

But anytime my wife wants sex, it's still easy to get an errection like it was before. It takes a little longer to orgasmn, but still possible.

Now I am just wondering - and maybe some of you depo users can help me with my questions.

- Will monthly depo provera shot will cause impotence while on it?

- Are sexual fantasies getting less over the time?

- What about mastrubation - any time it is not possible any more?

yes, not completely, or at least you´ll find very difficulty to achieve erections

yes, again, don´t dissapear completely,and your interest in sex will decrease.

- What about mastrubation - any time it is not possible any more?

when I used depo I usuallty did It I think propably you still will be able to masturbate .

I used It monthly for a short time, If you increase the dosage, you will have more impotnece problems. For some It´s enough one injection each two or three weeks to be close to castration, while others need one shot weekly or even more!

thanks for your thoughts. I read your past posts - am I right you tried depo provera with Androcur the same time?

To get much effect with depo provera, you need to do two shots at one time then maintain one every 3 weeks. There are better ways if you want to really lower libido and cause impotence. Estrogen blockers are very effective at killing libido and erections. a mix of androcur and an e-blocker is VERY effective!

You´re right, then I took also 12.5mg of androcur daily.

I talked to my doctor about androcur oral or depo. He recommend not to go with it because of some constraints about side effects.

We agreed in at least three month depo provera.

He also mentioned zoladex (goserelin ) as a stronger treatment than depo. Anybody knows about this?

If I had to choose between androcur or depo I would choose androcur, unfortunately It´s very expensive. Zoladex Is very strong and very expensive also.

just a update after two month on depo:

- sex is not so important any more

- errections are possible, but often miss a reason for it.

When it stays like this, I am fine with my new level of sexuality.

tell us about your thougts and feeling after you trial , please .

so far one injection any 3-4 weeks. Depending on personal feelings of my wife and myshelf.

I'll update the next days / weeks. Got the rx for 6 more shots (thats cheaper here in Germany).

The only side effects I've noticed so fare are some mood swings and I am more calmer.
