Aw, you are mixing bandwidth with latency. 
So - 1500Gb in 3seconds, but you have the refractory period. Say 20 minutes. And now you have a latency of 20 minutes, with average bandwidth of "just" 1.25Gb/s.
Imagine surfing the web from Mars - you click the link, 20 minutes later you get the page, astonishingly fast.
And if you remember, that it is just one sperm, that "reaches the target", then you have just catastrophic data loss rate, about 99.997526% if I counted correctly. That is what nature calls redundancy
