Saw palmetto for chemical castration?
Has anyone tried this? Someone in a previous thread I created said it was great in reducing his sex drive. I know that results vary, especially with herbs. I just ordered some and I'm going to try it.

It has been used for decades to reduce enlarged prostate from BPH. Need lots of it to be effective. Not much value for reducing testosterone. Waste of money.

Re: Saw palmetto for chemical castration?
Actually, I have used Saw Palmetto for years for prostate health. I take 900mg (2 x 450)[Spring Valley brand from Wally World] I started this month following the directions of 2 capsules (900 mg) in the morning and then 2 after my evening meal. Seems to be o.k. for me. Did not think about it reducing my T. but if it does, so what. It would mean I am throwing away money on AndroGel if it is removing the testosterone. Well, except that the AndroGEl will keep me from osteoporosus(?), I guess.

That's o.k. AndroGel says that one side effect is possible enlargement of the breasts. That is happening a little but woyuld not care if more developed.

Re: Saw palmetto for chemical castration?
Most herbals impede the creation of DHT rather than outright block T. Licorice Root, Pygeum Bark bit long list of them out there. Herbals are a roll of the dice in that even the same brand, same type, same dose can vary from bottle to bottle. Lots of people say that herbals just don't work. They can get you there, but it takes a lot longer with herbals than it does with pharma and most people don't have the patience required to see results over years hence the proclamation "they don't work".
