Need Information Please!!!!

Post by Scottie (imported) »

Does anyone know how long it takes for Androcur to stop working in ones body after it is stopped. Also When you take Estrogen transdermally .... If you have been on Androcur... How long does the Andracur inhibit its effects and how long does it inhibit the affects of Testosterone???? Thanks Scottie

Scotty,

Estrace taken orally worked for me in 3-4 weeks. But I was also on Provera. This has been very effective

Hello Scottie,

I have been following your progress since before you started all of this. Sorry if I have not responded sooner. I will try to give you the information that I know about that may help you.

I can only relate to you my experience on spironolactone. It is an anti-androgen similar to Androcur. They both do the same thing, only Androcur may work faster. I would make an educated guess that it stops working just as long as it took to start working. (eg. if it took 3 weeks to start working, it would take 3 weeks to stop)

I have also used the estrogen patch. I was using the patch bi-weekly along with the anti-androgen and seeing good results with feminization ( I don't remember the number, but I think it was the 100mg patch). As a transsexual, it is taken along with an anti-androgen to enhance the effects of feminization. ( Just look what it has done for me!) If your body is no longer producing testosterone, and you have stopped taking the Androcur, I would advise caution if you don't want the effects of feminization. There are several different doses of transdermal patch, you did not mention which does you were taking and are you changing the patch bi-weekly. If it is the lowest dose of patch it still may be enough to cause feminization. I would advise a lower dose of an oral pill. Say .625mg of Premarin or 1mg estradiol daily, if you want to take an estrogen.

Please be aware that it takes time for you body to react to the change in hormones levels, I have found it to be at least 4 weeks to feel any change, don't try to force your body to do anything faster, you may be doing harm to yourself. I know this can be confusing at times, and you may feel your not going in the direction you want, but it DOES work, believe me. We want you to be safe and happy and have a heathy future.

Hugs

About time you slowed down and let your body rest. Now what can I do to persuade you to stay that way? You do NOT need androcur once castrated. Give your body about one year to adjust to the testosterone levels from your castration, please? And androcur can have some bad side effects, such as liver damage. Take it easy and slow down. Get your castration, do nothing else, and let your body take a year in adjustment. After one year you will be calmer and better able to accurately decide if you want further changes.

Also, you need to give your body time and rest as it adjusts, and hot flashes will be part of that adjustment. Dumping in androcur will just make things worse.

THE QUESTION IS...... How long after you stiop taking androcur does it stop working in your body???? As for the other issues I am not on anything, nor do I intend to go on anything until I am settled down. Scottie

The question you asked about Androcur is another of those YMWV thingies, and in your case probably no longer matters. If I have been reading your posts correctly, your testicles have stopped functioning, so even if the androcur wore off completely by tomorrow, you would not notice much of a difference. Relax, get your castration, and wait one year.

O yes, and if you haven't done so yet, get a complete liver profile and a DEXA bone density scan BEFORE the final castration. You need to set up a baseline.
