I have been suffering from testicular pain for about 16 months now after an injury in which I had a hemotoma. The epididmys on the left testicle or the injured one becomes swollen still. My first urologist did not want to do much other than prescribe anti inflamatories my second urologist instead of removing the testicle wants to possibly remove the epididmys. I have been checked many times for an infection and there are no signs of an infection. I do have an appointment with a pain clinic where I believe they are going to try nerve block injections on Monday. Does anyone have experience with this procedure? And if so was it successful in alleviating pain? From everything that I have read this procedure is mainly for men who have had vasectomy issues. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Tried everything for chronic testicular pain. Ner e blocks seem to have varied results, for me tow extremes, oe no relief, the other total numbness of everything in my groin. Good Luck with the provedure.

if I was going to have this done, and I haven't, i would want to know beforehand how the urologist intends to proceed afterwards. Is the injection designed to block the pain temporarily or permanently? If it does work, does it mean having to go back to the pain specialist for regular visits to get it repeated? I would think that if it only stops the pain temporarily, confirming that the pain is indeed coming from your testicle, then the next logical step would be to have it removed, IMO.

I have dealt with nerve blocks in my back for chronic issues. They are never permanent and often not effective even temporarily. My best result has come from having the nerve tissue actually burned off. Gives about a year of relief, but the nerves do grow back. Using a nerve block as a diagnostic aid for more permanent solutions would be ideal.

Thanks for the replies guys, I was under the impression that the blocks were going to be a diagnostic tool but my doctor seems to change his mind on whether or not he wants to remove it if the injections are effective. I guess I will find out how this plays out with the pain clinic. Honestly at this point I am starting to feel as if going to see Marci bowers or dr arnkoff might be my only choice

I guess there is a big sigma about it which honestly I would still have had if not for my accident, it has definitely changed my perspective on things.
