Thanks for sharing your experience. It was much the same for me with Dr. Kimmel, but he really botched the stitching up at the end. I had to have a "revision" of the scrotum by a different urologist to fix the hole that he left, and it went about like your description of your being sewed up, but I never had any drains nor needed them. Any way, welcome to the Club!

Don't worry. The lump will go away. I thought the same thing when my testicles were removed. I believe it is the outer membrane that encompassed the testicle that turns hard and feels like a lump. It will atrophy and in a few weeks your scrotum will be totally empty.
dvdbll (imported) wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2014 4:06 am The oddest thing about the swelling is that it hasn't been fluid in the sac necessarily, but "lumps" on the ends of the cords. I've heard that Dr. Arnkoff makes patients look at the testicles to make sure they know he took them out, and I understand why. The lumps don't feel like my old testicles -- and I watched him remove them! -- but they could definitely be mistaken for them. I've been told that this all eventually shrinks to nothing and the cords go away. I'm just hoping that happens. It seems like I'm on my way!...

Wanted to let everyone know that my bruising is all gone, the swelling is almost gone, and the incisions are almost unnoticeable after 13 days. I still have big lumps on the end of my cord stumps, but they shrink a little each day. The right incision on my scrotum is completely closed and almost unnoticeable. The left one still has a little hole that seeps some. The lump on my left cord is much smaller than the right, and I have the notion it might be because the left one is still draining.
I'm now feeling on pain or discomfort. I'm going to take it easy through the weekend before riding my bike or going back to the gym, but I think I'll be just fine come next week. Let me know if you want to know any more.

Thanks for sharing this. My own castration is coming up (Sept. 12) in less than two weeks, and I admit I'm a little anxious about it.

You should be.
dvdbll - You're healing much the same as I did. I would give it a bit longer before you go to the gym or do any heavy bike riding. I didn't wait, and I ended up paying for it in a longer recovery time.

30 days minimum, at least. I was doing landscaping at 20 and paid dearly. Give it 60

Mine was done on March 15th and I could not wait to have it done. My urologist told me that he might be able to save part of the left testicle, but I told him that I wanted it gone. The surgery was done under general aneasthetic and the very first thing I did on waking up was to feel to make dead sure that they were both gone. They were. My recovery was very quick and totally pain free. The only problem was that my body tends to absorb the self dissolving sutures too quickly, so the wound gaped a little and took about 3 weeks to close up completely. I had small heamatomas on both sides after the surgery, but they disappeared within 4 weeks. Now all is good and I just wantr to get rid of my scrotum as it is a pain in the ass, difficult to shave, looks stupid and is pretty uncomfortable.
