Book - - THE SILKWORM

Post by Dave (imported) »

I just finished this book and it is a delight.

It is a murder mystery, well written and engrossing. The Detective is Cormoran Strike, who was introduced in Robert Galbraith's first novel - THE CUCKOO'S CALLING. The Cuckoo was Lula Landry and she was murdered.

This follows a fairly well trodden path for mysteries as it starts - a wife comes to Cormoran Strike's office and wants him to find her husband, an author. He's gone off and is hiding. That was ten days ago.

However, he's dead and it's his murder we get to solve.

It's got a grisly, bloody murder, a book manuscript that just seems to be absurdly inspired crazy, Seven suspects, lots of interesting and fun details and hints at the murderer. and a fun and action packed solution and climax. ALso, Coromoran finally figures out that his secretary Robin is a detective wannabe.

The Butler did not do it but the fun is guessing who did. There isn't a dull character in the book.

Now Robert Galbraith is the pen name of JK Rowling (in case you didn't know) and the writing is much more adult than the seven Harry Potter books. She writes detailed stories with tight plotting. This is detailed and emotive like THE CASUAL VACANCY and more fun the Galbraith's first novel - THE CUCKOO'S CALLING.

Why did I put this here? I enjoyed the book and wanted to tell others about it.
