So I have an appointment with a pain clinic
To have nerve block injections done, although I always thought urologists do those procedures, he said the people at the pain clinic are better suited to do so. I also had a ct scan done because pretty consistently I have microscopic amounts of blood in my urine not enough to see with the naked eye but enough to warrant the doc doing a scope procedure into my bladder. The do. Said that if the nerve bloc goes well then it could be a sign that removal could stop the pain. I am pretty nervous about all of this as I have kind of reached the end of my rope with all the pain. I guess my back up plan is to see a surgeon such as dr arnkoff or dr bowers to have both testicles removed if my new doc doesn't do anything different.

I am glad you are receiving help with your pain. I am sorry I have not read your posts before but I feel like I am coming in late to the story. Are you having chronic testicular pain? I hope you find relief.

Thanks, for about a year and a half now after suffering an injury to my left testicle where I had a hemotoma. The pain has. Virtually robbed me of enjoying my life I don't particularly want to become a eunuch but I also don't want to be in pain and would rather have no testicles than live in pain.

Find a sympathetic urologist if the one you currently are using doesn't help you. They are out there. You just need to look a bit. A female surgeon seems to be the best bet.

Re: So I have an appointment with a pain clinic
As a guy who endured testicular pain for way way too many years, I can sympathize. Trust me once started , it tends to only get worse, never better. I reached the point where sometimes in a public place the pain would kick in with a vengence and actually bring me to my knees. For me, a dull ache was constant, with flares that came unannounced, and lasted for different lengths of time.
If you can deal with it, likely the best choice is to remove them. Living without testicles is different than being intact, but with some diligence regarding HRT , the changes are subtle. My personal feeling is that implants are a mistake, having known more than a few who had health issues related to them.
If you and your wife are thru with the whole making babies thing, and she is accepting and supportive about you having them removed, you have overcome the biggest battles. With the exception of full time nudists, how often after all will anyone see you undressed to discover you don't have them?
Good Luck with the nerve blocks, I had mixed results , but ultimately surgery cured the pain forever.

Thanks raymar I think the doc is just using the injections as a diagnostic tool to see if surgery would work. I guess I will find out when I have them.

Re: So I have an appointment with a pain clinic
I'm also in a similar situation as you Wifflebender. I have had chronic testicular pain for the last four years after having numerous abdominal surgeries, where the inguinal nerve and other associated branches were damaged, or developed scar tissue entrapment around them. I was treated with medications, progressing to nerve blocks as the condition worsened. I was told an orchi would not help since my problem was occurring above them. The nerve blocks worked great for me but eventually worked less and less time for me. I eventually had a nerve stimulator implanted to block the pain signals. Sounds like your uro is going to use the blocks as a diagnostic tool to confirm the pain is coming from your testicles. The pain doc may also try some non narcotic medications that work on blocking the nerve pain such as Lyrica, and Cymbalta. My pain has recently worsened again and is not controlled as well with the implant. After a recent visit with my pain doc the orchi discussion is back on the table. Good luck with your pain doc.
