Does cyproterone acetate cause permanent sterility?

Post by Foomanchu (imported) »

Hi,

I took Androcur(cyproterone acetate) for about a month in order to lower my sex drive.

Last week I looked at my semen in the microscope and instead o hundreds of sperm cells I saw just one or two.

My question here is: Has anyone here tried chemical castration and managed to reversed the efects?

If I take androcur for 6 months will I become permanently sterile?

Thanks.

"Your Mileage My Very" Androcur or other anti-androgens if taken for long time can cause infertility, but the length of time taken varies greatly from a month to years, but you have to take the it longer permanent loss of hormone production.

And what about castration? When I take it 6+ months, can I be permanently castrated than?

"Your Mileage My Very" For some 6 months others a year like I said it varies greatly for person to person. Taking Androcur will cause over time your testicles to atrophy. Once the testicles have atrophied chances that you will recover are slim but the testicles still may recover.

It's not impossible for even long-term chem-castration people to recover fully from it. It's very much a YMMV thing. 1 month is unlikely to do any permanent damage, it will just take a few months to recover from it. (Androcur is VERY potent.) Generally 6 months is the official "sterility" mark where orgasms will become dry, atrophy will begin, and there starts being a chance that you might not recover fertility. The longer you're on it, the higher the chance gets. But again, some will never become infertile no matter how long they're on it, while others might never recover even from as little as a few months. It's very much a YMMV case.
