I was four hours in the surgery center, then went home. Used ice packs the first day...well 24 hours. After that, I was free to do whatever i wanted....well...except sex. I was only out of action about 3 days. Same for when I had the scrotum removed.

Can't remember for sure, but it was about a couple of days feeling not so good, and then mostly good after a month. Each side took something like the same.
Then after the second side settled, it was a different but good feeling I have enjoyed ever since. It wasn't what I had wished, but turned out for the best.
Congratulations!

Re: Simple Bilateral Orchiectomy healing time.......??????
The urologist who advised me how to go about checking with vasectomy clinics in search of a doctor has died of old age. He indicated to me that there would be no record in his charts about my inquiry, which turned out to be true.
I got a simple bilateral orchiectomy via two typical vasectomy incisions, and the doctor was so skilled as a surgeon that I was back at work the very next day as though nothing had happened. I was given prophylactic antibiotics, and had no complications. I did use a no-space-provided-for-testicles female undergarment for compression purposes, with sterile gauze pads, and the healing time for the orchiectomy, as for the subsequent prosthesis insertion, as for the 2011 prosthesis removal surgery, was about a week or a little more, until the scars were effectively well healed. All of those surgeries were done under local anesthesia.

Mine was done scrotally on 03/15 this year at around 5.00 PM and I was out of the hospital by 11.00 AM the next day. Mine was done under general which is why I stayed overnight. My daughter picked me up and just after getting home, I drove my car (stick shift) to the shops. I was lucky, ad absolutely no post operative pain or discomfort at all. I was off for 2 weeks on the advice of my urologist, but could actually have gone back to work on the Monday.

A little "mischief": there seems a world of difference between micdavi24 and some of the others. I got done by a rather heavy-handed doc, and took much longer to be right again. Is there something important we should know about technique, and should ask for?

Yes.
Ask for a Board-certified Urologist and DO NOT settle for less. A board-certified abdominal surgeon would work, too.

I honestly don't know why I had such an easy time of it. I was done by a certified urologist and h
ill say that even the nursing staff were surprised that I did not have any pain and several of them commented on this when they asked whether I needed any pain relief.I also never iced and had relatoively little swelling. The bruisinf as a result of the surgery disappeared in less than a week and most of the swelling was gone within 4 days.micdavi24 (imported) wrote: Fri May 02, 2014 7:02 pm ad absolutely no post operative pain or discomfort at all. I attribute my successful and pain free surgery to a highly skilled urologist and a healthy body and mind.

From what I have been able to glean from other members' various comments about their post castration recovery experiences, it seems that a radical orchiectomy is the least troublesome. I was given the choice of having it done through the abdomen or through the scrotum. I chose the former and was pretty much OK to go about my normal business the second day following my surgery, with no horror story. I took no pain killers and used ice packs to reduce the swelling and sleep comfortably. I healed very quickly. Perhaps this fast recovery is because, unlike that of a simple orchiectomy, the spermatic cord is removed during inguinal surgery,.

Yes we all heal differently and feel pain differently. I was hacked on by a non qualified person and while I had drainage for longer than I hoped PO pain was minimal. I might have taken an ibuprofen. Plenty of pain during the removal since I was not numbed properly but little afterwards.
