A user must have 5 posts before allowed to use the PM system. You now have enough posts to use it.

If you were looking for what you sent in your "Sent Items," note that it won't be saved there automatically. If you use the "Go Advanced" button, you can request that a copy of what you send be saved, but otherwise you won't see it there. That doesn't mean that the message wasn't sent.
