Proof Reader Needed.
I've finished writing a story for the eunuch archives. It's a minor theme story deals with nullification but there is no sex or violence. Would anyone be willing to do a proof read for me and put it in a word document form or whatever is required for submission nowadays.

If whatever you're using cannot save it in an appropriate format, try downloading Open Office and using that. It's free.
What format do you have it saved as?

Re: Proof Reader Needed.
I have it on the word document program that came with my Apple computer. May I submit it in that form?
Re: Proof Reader Needed.
Email it to me, I'll see if I can open it with Open Office.
I've never checked to see if they have a MAC version.

He put his email address at the end of his message. Just replace the " at " with "@" and the "dot " with ".".

Thank you C.G. I'm embarrassed that I didn't figure it out for myself. If that was an IQ test I scored failed!
Paolo I sent the email. I hope you can open the attachment and I hope you like the story
Many Thanks

I don't know what a .pages file is, but Open Office won't open it, and I don't have time to fight with it. Sorry.

I know what is happening. You must be using PAGES as the word processor.
Do this:
From inside PAGES Version 5: on the FILE menu use "Export" and save the file as a Word document DOCX or a plain text document TXT
From inside PAGES version 4: on the FILE menu use SAVE AS and click the down arrow next (a little triangle thing) to the file name, that will bring up more choices. On the expanded menu choose the check box next to "Save Copy As" and the choice is "Word"
OR:
From inside PAGES version 4: choose" "SHARE" on the Menu (it's next to HELP), then look for "EXPORT" at the bottom of the menu, and choose "Word" or Rich Text (RTF) as a format.
From either version: do a "select all" (command A) and copy the text to TEXTEDIT and save it. Cainanite and Paolo can read that plain document format too.
Or my one time offer -- EMAIL me the APPLE file at dave at fragments dot ws and I will send back two files - the first will be your original and the second will be a rich text format that can be opened will open.
This is why:
I just today bought a MacBook because my old one is doing goofy-assed things. . . Apple uses PAGES as the MACINTOSH or APPLE desktop computer's Word Processor. Since I write short stories and send them to printed journals electronically, those editors want RTF format or Plain Text documents. They are very specific about that. Most any other format will be rejected unread by an editor. Thankfully, the EA isn't that picky.
The latest version of PAGES (version 5) doesn't save directly in RTF format. The Apple Store loaded PAGES V4 on my computer and to get an RTF I have to save in PAGES v4 and then export an RTF file. It's an extra step that I will deal with.
And I came back to add: I didn't want to buy OFFICE again because I think it is unsafe on any computer. But that's me and the world thinks otherwise.
