White House Down - a movie review

This was one of two of last year's Washington DC destruction movie.

It followed the very serious and very painful-to-watch OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN.

So in both movies, the president is trapped in the Whitehouse thanks to armed gunmen with lunatic designs on the USA.

This movie is the lesser of the two but that 's a low bar to establish entertainment.

Get some popcorn, legal pot, soft drinks, and turn your mind to "vegetable" . . .

Roland Emmerich and Channing Tatum are in this and Channing Tatum sets a new high in nuanced and dramatic performances since his appearance in MAGIC MIKE (the male stripper music) and 21 JUMP STREET where e30 year old men try to play teenagers because the audience is composed of fools or prepubescent wannabes .

The first part of the movie makes me squirm at the "whitehouse tour with adoring teen" setup. It's cheesy.

The action parts of the movie are good.

Jamie Foxx is good.

But the rest of the cast, although they are good actors, just don't have the script or dialogue or direction.

And speaking or Roland Emmerich, he makes big, bloated and gassy fart movies that are for 13 year olds to eat popcorn and test their newly discovered gear shift abilities as the world dies in apocalyptic agonies and or overblown creature features.

The last half of the movie is entertaining (that's the bombs, gunfights, and explosions)

Final word: The White House is Definitely Down in the dumps at being so used and violated.
