It sounds like Marvin the paranoid Android the the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...
I like it, it's funny!!!
As I recall, Marvin also had a problem with automatic doors feeling smug and self-satisfied.
And more, I recall Zaphod Beeblebrox's two head agreeing that Marvin was one seriously depressed robot.
As they say: so long and thanks for all the fish!

What's a modem?
It's what is used to plug a computer into a telephone line. Depending on your point of view, it could be regarded as the analogue for data transfer in a computing context to certain pieces of equipment which are extensively discussed here are for gamete transfer in a reproductive context.
The analogy holds further in that both technologies are prone to the inadvertent download of unpleasant infections into the user's own system. Many users are understandably somewhat ambivalent about the advantages of the arrangement and seriously consider having the device removed.
Do you want to have your modem disconnected?

I would suggest you cut the damn thing off before you get any infection or even cause some kind of reproduction!
