Re: Castration DOES halt hairloss!
LOL, ok here goes. I was going bald at 18yrs old. Had all types of dlffuse thinning by 20yrs old. It was bad to the point people would laugh, stare, point, mock. Oh yea, my pops, mom, and 2 sisters all have hairloss lol. Ok I was castrated in O6 and eventually regrew my hair. It took about 4 months. Now 8yrs later, I still have all my hair. Greatest benefit to being an eunuch

An academic source on this subject would be
Hamilton, James B. (1960). Effect of Castration in Adolescent and Young Adult Males Upon Further Changes in the Proportions of Bare and Hairy Scalp. Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, vol. 20, no. 10, pp. 1309-1318.
Hamilton studied males castrated at ages 8 through 59 in Kansas mental institutions. He has a number of articles based on this research.

Re: Castration DOES halt hairloss!
I had nothing on top and after I was castrated I now have a few thin wisps but to be honest I wish I didn't they look a bit silly and I have to shave them off, as for my other body hair it has thinned but I have so much of it you cant really tell apart from my beard which is shaven there is no way I could grow it now as I have lots of bald patches. O well some you win some you loose.

@Jesus Nice find! It will be interesting to read the science behind this phenom.
@jako Im sure if you were castrated within less than 5yrs of beginning to lose your hair it would have grown back like mine did.
Thank you all for your input!

Re: Castration DOES halt hairloss!
Stopping my hair loss was seriously one of the primary impetuses that I had to going on MtF HRT. And it is still one of the things that I'm the absolute happiest about now that it's been over a year on it. I started losing my hair in bunches when I was 20. And my mom's side of the family, although they don't go bald, their hairlines do recede to about the middle of the top of the head, and everything thins out so much that you can definitely see through it. As a young trans person who has always wanted the exact opposite of thin male hair, (I've always wanted long feminine hair so badly, but could never grow it out because the recession made it look awful whenever I tried,) I had so many nightmares about going bald. I felt trapped, a slave to genetics, being forced into a body that I didn't want.
1 year into HRT, and the nightmares have finally stopped. While I still do have a little bit of thinning in the very back, and my hairline probably isn't going to completely recover, it's finally thick enough that I really can grow it out. Getting rid of the T in my system, plus being on Finasteride/Dutasteride, has already reversed at least 5 years of hair loss. I didn't really start losing a lot of it until I was 20, and I started HRT at 27, so there's a very good chance that my hair is going to make a full recovery. It's still growing back, especially along the corners of the hairline.
I've heard somewhere that castration in both forms, chemical and physical, can reverse up to 5-7 years of hair loss if you give it 3-5 years to do so. I'm already getting there after just 1 year. It started out as little wispy hairs growing back everywhere after a couple months of HRT, and then around 5-6 months those wispy hairs all started converting back into full healthy normal hairs again, and have continued sprouting up ever since.

Hi cheetaking, thanks for sharing! I am so happy you also experienced the added benefit of hair regrowth! Its like a miracle huh. FYI, if you want faster hair regrowth or if you want to go from telogen to anagen, minox (rogaine) absolutely works! Plus being castrated, you dont have to worry about hair follicles becoming resistant to minox and eventually falling out 3yrs later!! Keep in mind this works better in diffuse thinning individuals. When I first joined this site I read a thread some kid was suicidal over his hairloss and my heart went out to him. I hope he is doing ok now
