"Gotham" on FOX - in a word, NO

I have no hopes for this one.

🔨

Rest easy, "Batman" fans: The Dark Knight will be a part of Fox's upcoming prequel series "Gotham"... along with a few of his favorite archenemies.

A 12-year-old Bruce Wayne will be one of "Gotham's" main characters, chairman Kevin Reilly told critics at Fox's winter press tour today, along with younger versions of classic "Batman" villains such as The Joker, The Penguin, The Riddler, and Catwoman. "This is an origin story," he declared, describing it as "an operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality to it" set in a "Gotham teetering on the edge."

[Related: Jack's Back! Get the Scoop on Fox's New '24' Miniseries (http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jack- ... 55747.html)]Reilly's remarks shed a bit more light on the mysterious hour-long project from "The Mentalist" creator Bruno Heller, which centers on a young Commissioner Gordon — actually still Detective Gordon here — and will follow the dark tone of the Christopher Nolan films. (Gary Oldman played the role of Gordon in Nolan's trilogy.)

A "Gotham" pilot has been ordered, but no casting or filming has taken place, and it's not even officially on the Fox schedule yet. (It's currently slated for the 2014-15 season.)

With the "Batman" brand name, though, you have to think fan anticipation will be extremely high. And Reilly promised a money shot for the fanboys: "The final episode of the series will be Bruce Wayne putting on the cape."

How can it be an original script when its the 8th, no 9th telling of the same story. Its such a good money maker they just keep making them over and over. I mean really, how many batman's have there been, or jokers, or riddler's or, or or or bat mobiles, bat planes, bat toys, bat, bat, OMG will it never end?

Yes, but you haven't seen this one. Glad to see it's not going to be a pain in my ass until at least Fall 2015.

How could it be original?

Let me think out loud (be careful, my mind can be scary)

aliens

Bruce Wayne is being molested at his young age. Pick your perversion. (hey, there's a guy in Florida with Swiss Cheese - for Gotham it seems Velveeta with mayonnaise whipped into a frenzy)

It all started with a fight for the prize spot at that Christmas Pageant. No one wanted to be the Ox or Ass and that funny kid who's always cracking jokes broke the audience up with his version of "the Aristocrats" and Sarah decided to seek "Mary Kittens" from the manger and you know, all that stuff… Like the little fat kid who was in a tiny tuxedo who looked so cute. No one has ever staged a Nativity like that before or again.

All I can think of is that they're trying to duplicate the success of Smallville.

I did not watch the last set or the one before it, I mean really just how many times can the tell the same story over and over before nobody goes to see it?

Actually quite a few I will guess, Godzilla is out with a new movie, #37 in the series I think.
