I don't remember what direction they travelled that year. Sometimes the first conference was in South Korea (I forget its name) but most times beginning with NEDO in Japan. Rarely separated by more than a day or two. It was his last day of the trip -- hence South Korea was my guess.

They also had an interesting array of cooked bizarre fish but then, I once ate tiny octopus friend with olive oil and garlic at an Italian Trattoria in New York City. I can also stuff squid and make pasta sauce (but can't eat it). Perhaps fried eel. Would that be served at breakfast?

I agree it's a better breakfast than donuts and sugars and caffeine. I would take noodles or rice in broth. Alas, I'm now allergic to fish and eggs and lactose intolerant. Chocolate tried to kill me with internal bleeding and soda pop gives me kidney stones. I guess being allergic to the bad foods is OK. Just boring.

a dozen years ago, the first Crispy Creme opened and I got some of their donuts. WOW! what a phenomenal amount of sugar. Even their powered sugar filled donuts are like blocks of white sugar. I can't do that anymore. It does bad things to me. Even a nice cupcake on my birthday is too much sugar anymore. So I get some thin sliced beef, an onion, and a half a loaf of crusty french bread and that's my birthday cake. On Thanksgiving I eat more stuffing than turkey. My diet is a little goofy.
