Can anyone refer me to a site showing Depression-era signs in Minnesota or that general area that said - "No Fins!" [as in people from Finland]?
I tried Google images and get more "SAY NO TO SHARK FIN SOUP" than to what I am looking for.

Please don't take this comment as a personal attack or put down, but the search might work better if you asked for "No Finns." I am only noting that Google is not overly friendly to spelling errors, I am not attributing intelligence or any other virtue to knowing that Finn as an ethnonym has a geminate nasal, and I won't tell you what I know about the origins of the word.

Re: Fin Prejudice
I tried your spelling first, gareth, with no results except the suggestion to try fin instead of finn. And no offense taken. If that had been the key, I would have appreciated someone suggesting it.
I had mentioned that prejudice one morning at the old farts sunrise coffee klatch. An old guy who had ridden the rails during the Depression told me about seeing 'No Finns need apply - allowed, etc.' signs. An old fart mentioned today that he had asked a couple of people from Minnesota and nobody had seen that. My first reaction was that there was a lot more prejudice in the Midwest pre-WW II than now (I was born in Iowa and have heard the stories). Since he nicely was suggesting that perhaps prejudice against Finns was not present, I would like to nicely tell him to search XYZ and he could see for himself that it had existed.
