35 for horses; only 14 for boys?

A survey of the US Patent Office between 1856 & 1919 showed 35 anti-masturbation devices for horses, and 14 for boys. (1974, Mountjoy, P.T. Some early attempts to modify penile erection in horse and human: An historical analysis. The Psychological Record, V24, pp 191-308.) Included are drawings from the patents. It was all part of the anti-masturbation craze that began with Tissot.

Mike Rowe of DIRTY JOBS once had his hands on a device that collects horse semen for artificial impregnation. Although Discovery Channel blurred it out in action it's not to hard to imagine what it looked like.

A horse penis is about 2 or 3 foot long (at least the part that sticks out from the horse. It does almost touch the ground) and about three/4 inches thick. It ain't pretty and considering it is attached to a 1000 pound beast…

and it's going to get wet because horses eliminate water. a large, ugly stream of yuckiness...

A numer of years ago, my brother had a white stallion he wanted to breed and left it in the corral with a mare overnight. Now this was in a county park and you could see the corral from the main road through the park...

Well about 11pm the police call him (they keep horses for patrol too) and a woman stopped and told them that two horses were mating where everyone could see. The police being slaves to procedure called my brother and relayed the message.

They all had a good laugh except the woman who was somehow offended by it all.

About ten or twelve years ago a neighbor of mine adopted 8 donkeys and it was a cute herd. In my neighborhood there are big pets.

One day I was driving past and glanced out the passenger window at the donkeys and sure enough - there was one male and it was having at 7 females. Large floppy thing that swing up/down, right/left and disappeared when it mounted its targets. It made two before they got the vet and snipped, snipped, the testicles.

Now she has about ten donkeys - still cute and adorable to look at -- 9 females and 1 gelding.

Oh, the young bulls tend to be a problem, especially when they circle up and start encouraging one another...
