I'm a musician. All that information is ... stuff I accumlated through work.

I've played "Woodchopper's Ball" ... and alot of other Big Band standards with multiple big bands, generally on trombone.

As for the others, I have played guitar and bass with several pro cover bands. The last one I was with ('99-'02) almost did "Zoot Suit Riot" when it was on the Top 40, and opted to do Brian Setzer's version of "Jump, Jive and Wail", instead. I've never listened to all of the album that "Zoot Suit Riot" is off of, but that tune is one of my favorite mp3's.

Life can be really interesting when you are a classically trained musician with rock/country roots, that loves jazz.

I almost played organ for a living and took lesson on electric organ for 11 years ... that's '57 to '68 .... and most of what I played was standard nightclub stuff, big band, broadway, and beatles-type stuff. .. I like swing, and some jazz, but not all jazz. I also listen popular stuff and I don't wantonly badmouth any style of music.

After 1968 I went to college and took up science and math.

But, in 1966, a highschool teacher took the class to see Mahler's 2nd Symphony and I was hooked for life. I have had tickets to the world's best symphony since I got a job out of college (1973) ..

When the neighborhood kid carried on about Zoot Suit Riot and brought the CD over for me to listen to, I cranked out my little keyboard and played "In the mood" and then all the Cole Porter I could remember. for him ... I also dug out a videotape of Cab Calloway doing Minnie the Moocher in the Blues Brothers for him to see. THat was fun, since everything old was new again!!!

Hate to tell ya about the Squirrel Nut Zippers, though - their name comes from an old Southern candy made out of molasses. You can still get them in some places...they're pretty tasty.

Oh yeah...and don't forget the Descendents' classic song, "Eunuch Boy," including such lyrics as:

Eunuch Boy, Eunuch Boy

Thought the lawnmower was a toy

and:

Doesn't it suck to know you'll never fuck?

Yo Paolo - ya need to get the mohawk smiley from BME. -:) just doesn't quite do it.

those lyrics are bad! Wow! Amazingly bad! Amazingly, amazingly bad!!!

I think that there is a really bad line in the Opera "Boris Gudenov" where he sings: "I am dieing of a dread lung disease"

Or the line in the Opera "SiegFried" where Siegfried removes the shield and buckler on Brunnhilda, sees her tits and sings: "this is a girl" ...

like wow, lil abner, like wow!!!

It has long been joked that, in Classical Opera, anything too silly to be said can always be sung.

thought this one is quite poetic:

Foxtrott Uniform Charlie Kilo

Vulcanize the whoopee stick

In the ham wallet

Cattle prod the oyster ditch

With the lap rocket

Batter dip the cranny ax

In the gut locker

Retrofit the pudding hatch

Ooh la la

With the boink swatter

If i get you in the loop when

I make a point to be straight with you then

In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though

I brazillian wax poetic

So hypothetically

I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Marinate the nether rod

In the squish mitten

Power drill the yippee bog

With the dew piston

Pressure wash the quiver bone

In the bitch wrinkle

Cannonball the fiddle cove

Ooh la la

With the pork steeple

If i get you in the loop when

I make a point to be straight with you then

In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though

I brazillian wax poetic

So hypothetically

I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Put the you know what in the you know where

Put the you know what in the you know where

Put the you know what in the you know where

Put the you know what in the you know where

pronto !

Tosca drops a heavy crucifix on Scarpia's balls (of course he's already dead). When she stabs him she says "This is the kiss of Tosca" and he sings ARGGHHH and dies.

Mignon Dunn (a mezzo-soprano) was playing Carmen and when Don Jose threw her onto the stage, her tits popped out of her dress. The tenor complained she was upstaing him and she retorted that he was just jealous that he didn't have tits.
