Survival of the Fabulous

Post by JesusA (imported) »

A TV hour of David Suzuki's Canadian Broadcasting Company series "The Nature of Things." Why does homosexuality exist? What functions does it serve such that it is not eliminated by evolution? The program is currently being discussed by a number of sex researchers, with a wide variety of differing viewpoints. The reviews are basically positive with minor nitpicking over details....

I'll watch the whole video tomorrow when I have time, thanks for finding this.

A related anecdote, if I may...

Your timing for posting this is interesting, as just yesterday I was blindsided by a religious co-worker who can't help himself from making remarks where he regurgitates 'Official Dogma' without thinking. He's a really quite smart, free-thinking guy considering he was born, raised, and still lives in a family that is hard-core Mennonite. Anyway, a group of us were chatting and homosexuality came up and he spouted off with the old "being gay is morally wrong because it's a total aberration, it does not exist in any way in nature" (I believe this causality, rather than consequentialist, moralism?).

In private I had to tell him that homosexual behavior occurs in all sorts of animals, sometimes due to biology and switching of genders, sometimes due to boredom or just playing around, sometimes for fun and comfort as with bonobos. Showed him examples online (dear God, don't just enter "gay animal sex" into Google, though).

I liked his reaction, though. This is a decent man who exemplifies to me what happens when a rational, intelligent man with a sense of humor starts emerging from the covers of forced/familial religion; he was surprised, and was looking forward to 'really talking about this' with his minister. When teachings are proven to be out-and-out lies (or, generously, pure ignorance), they shouldn't be allowed to continue.

Thank you for beating me to that one. The original location that I posted was taken down, but the new one seems to work.

I don't know what's wrong with your PC, Jesus tried it and I've just tried it and it works just fine. Just make sure you clic on the right link, the one I've posted, not the one Jesus posted, that one doesn't work anymore. Try again!

Here's another site that seems to work for me:

https://mega.co.nz/#!dZAFjLxQ!QafyTFuSE ... e8sjBu048Y kBPI

You do NOT have to accept that website's invitation to join. It is a secure, 50gb website where stuff can be stored, gratis.

This link worked, its about an hour and worth viewing. Interestingly that my brother was gay, he was the second born son, I came 10 years later. I look back at some of my brothers behavior to this film and it answers so many questions. From the twins, to the nurture it was a real eye opener. My sons wife has two half brothers they are twins and one is openly gay, the other straight.

Jesus, we need to talk about this like on the phone.
