The HOBBIT part duce

Post by Riverwind (imported) »

My son and I braved the 15deg weather today and saw The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... ertainment% 2Fmovies%2Fthe-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug-keeps-tolkiens-magic-going-b99157273z1-235597131.html&ei=_LOrUvmIH-mkyQHaq4DYBA&usg=AFQjCNEbAbrlB1F3BGS578MTx6IFLI5taA&sig2=u5HUmdmIvlJSQ3cvWXl2Ww&bvm=bv.57967247,d.aWc) for those of you who read the book, this is a somewhat close resemblance of the characters who were in the book at some point along with the Dragon who.................

As for the movie, it was great. It kept you in your seat for 2:41 of action, if you see this movie forget the book other then the Characters who are somewhat the same sort of. As for the CGI graphics of Smaug, WOW, now this was a dragon I can get into and they did a fantastic job.

On the movie scale its a 4.8 out of 5 - it is worthy of the watch, just don't get to upset if it strays from the book just a little................

It is definitely a visual joy.

AND no spoilers.

But if you watched this one, you can't wait for the Hobbit part thrice.

I read an interview with Peter Jackson who said that he thought the Dragon Smaug was the thing/character/mcguffin/device that would carry the movie. So he set out to make a DRAGON that impressed everyone.

Well, he had to have something.

After all, it would beat the racing rabbits from the first part.

I wasn't going to add this because I haven't seen the movie, BUT, I have seen SMAUG in the trailer's …

Anyone that's seen the trailers has seen Smaug and seen him in size context with humans.

I may waste nearly 3 hours and $$$ just watching the movie in the theater for SMAUG.

Like Riverwind said -- he's worth the price of admission.

Thinking about the movie over the last couple days I will say again go see this movie, you want to see Smaug on the big screen, you really do and he will be in the first part of the next and final movie and you will want to see that one on the big screen too, ITS ALL ABOUT SMAUG.

IEunuch saw the movie Friday night and said he enjoyed it. He also said the CGI of the dragon was spectacular.

I liked the first movie okay, but this one was was MUCH MUCH better than that one. It was non stop action from beginning to end.

I heard somebody bitching about the special effects tonight. Funny. He didn't seem to bitch about the wailing, moaning and gnashing of teeth that goes on in the political sheit he complained about.

I think that I am glad we don't hear it (or state it) any more here...
