I have flown 10s of thousands of miles, but not sense 9/11, I said after that I would never fly again but I did, back to California for a visit, I will fly again this February to Hawaii, actually twice, once to Honolulu then on to Hilo. If I ever decided I can afford to go to another MOM event I will need to fly or swim.

Flying is not bad if your a little kid, or very small, but for a big person think sardine. Flo is right that you pay lots of money to be treated worse then your baggage which may get lost. HOW, UPS does not loose things, so how does an airline which loads the baggage on the same plane your flying? I know, and for this we get to pay more and be frisked in the process.

What do you mean anti flying Moi? you don't even like to go in your front yard.

Yea. Me too. I've flown tens of thousands of miles. The only plane issue I've ever been concerned about (including landing nearly sideways - no problem) was once in a DC-3 over the very southern Sierra Madres out in the middle of southern Mexico, one of the engines started making some serious noise. That noise along with the slamming of the plane door that was chained so it wouldn't open too far was a bit overwhelming. However since then I've been on god knows how many flights.

In all sense of the word I've had far more near death experiences riding in a car including snapping my neck. We should be deathly afraid of cars.

Flying? Its fine.

Mac is hereby banned from landing a B-52 in a crosswind or night carrier landings in a thunderstorm.

Reminds me of the Insurance company refusing a request for a diagnostic ultrasound study and

advising the doctor it is his liability if a needed study is not done.

I bet such pilot decisions go on their permanent record, etc.

Moi

It's the company bean counters in the end.

It may help you to know Moi that in January Colorado will have marijuana e-cigarettes.

So you should be able to fly high.

I hope the air conditioning for pilots and the passengers is separate ;)

But then I have a better idea - since THC is non addictive and does not cause withdrawal symptoms - separate the air conditioning for pilots and the passengers. Add THC, (it was tested on mice that it decreases aggression) and - terrorism-free flights. Just stock up on food. :D

It was a dark and stormy night.

Flying into SFO one evening, we flu in a holding pattern over northern California for about 4 hours before we finally got our turn, we knew it was going to be a bumpy ride when the pilot came on the speaker and said, 'buckle yourselves in, stewardess buckle your selves in now, I will not talk again until were on the ground. Then for the next 15 minutes we had a ride worse then any roller coaster, and when we finally touched down it was more like planting the plane, there was a collective breath as we all exhaled at the same time. Then we broke into applause and cheering the pilot. When we left the plane in a very orderly manor each person shook the hand of the pilot and thanked him.

I have a few complaints about flying, although I only do it once a year.

I can't find a damn Senator in the toilet at the airport.

Last time someone got patted down by a guy, it was Jesus - not me.

(My luck, I'd get Helga the Horrible anyway)

When I went to remove my belt, the guy said "just go on".

Those jerks at Minn/St.Paul laughed at my laptop and were waving it around and showing everyone.

They won't let me drive one of those cool golf carts in the airport. Are they so well paid that a $50 doesn't mean anything?!

nvrgag44 (imported) wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2013 1:09 pm 100% agreement! It's not the flight I mind. It's airport traffic, surly airline employees (attractive gay flight attendants excepted), brainless TSA small minds with bad attitudes, delays, lost luggage, being packed in like cattle in seats smaller than my desk in 3rd grade, bad food etc. I fly when I must, which thankfully is rare. I like to drive. It's relaxing. Better yet if I can ride my Harley.

I fly a lot. Back and forth between the US and Europe and the Middle East and between the coasts. It sucks and if I could I would not do it. And its for the reasons nvrgag44 says. In the 90's I was frequently traveling to Panama and Costa Rica and it was a breeze. Not as breezy as the 70's but definitely not like today where Nazis run the airports and greedy thieves run the airlines. With all the mergers competition is limited and that means lots of price gouging, especially to Europe. The hub and spokes system we have is a detriment to everyone.

I fly all over the world.

And because i have a farm in norway. A farm in wiscounsin. And my love live in the philippines.

Only problem i have. is the room for your legs.

Long flight`s make me look like i am 75 years old for hours.

And the long wait to get your lugadge afther your flight.

Fase your Fear. and you allways get stronger.

Marry x mass people.

There are "Tricks" to landing a small plane in a crosswind. They WILL NOT work with a commercial airliner unless you want to break off a landing gear. With that being said, large planes, commercial airliners, the bigger the better, are safer to fly in during bad weather.

Moi. These decisions are ENTIRELY up to the pilot. The pilot will not decide until he is in the approach whether to abort the landing or not.

Just be glad that the crosswind was a steady one and NOT gusts. With gusts it is easy to get killed in an approach with a small plane. In a large plane, not so much.

Maybe all passengers should be anesthetized during the landing and the take off like they are during a surgery...
