In case you were wondering, it is indeed possible for a shark to bite off more than it can chew.

As evidence, we submit this Greenland shark, which two good samaritans recently rescued from choking to death on a moose. One of the men, Derrick Chaulk, told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation he came across the shark while driving past a harbor in Newfoundland last weekend, then approached it to find a large piece of moose hide sticking out of the animal's mouth.

After another man, Jeremy Ball, stopped by to see the animal, the two set about saving the shark. They guess it weighed 250 pounds and was just over 8 feet long.

"He swallowed [the moose] and got it halfway down and couldn't cough it back up and couldn't get it all down, and then I think the tide brought him in," Chaulk told the CBC, speculating on how the shark ended up beaching itself. "A couple yanks [on the moose] and it just came right out."

How, exactly, the shark came across a large chunk of moose is a mystery, though Chaulk speculates a hunter may have cleaned a moose carcass and discarded the remnants in the water. With some help, Chaulk told the St. John's Telegram, the shark was moved to deeper water, where it eventually came to and swam away.

The Greenland shark inhabits the cold North Atlantic Ocean, where it subsists primarily on a diet of fish and the occasional seal. Some Greenland sharks have even been found with pieces of polar bear in their stomach. According to Discovery, some scientists believe the Greenland shark may grow to a size larger than the great white shark.

Because of the Greenland shark's preferred range of extremely cold, deep water, it hardly ever encounters humans. As such, attacks on humans are extremely rare. Remarkably, based on limited research, scientists hypothesize that the shark has a life expectancy of at least 200 years.

Sorry you had a bad day, Dave. To make it worse, the Russian tsar was Boris Godunov; the character Boris Badinov was also a play on Bad Enough.

Wasn't Boris Badenov a character from Rocky and Bullwinkle? His girl associate spy was Natasha, but I don't know her last name. Perhaps they were married and it was the same as his.. Great shark story Dave..Thanks pard, feel better..Jackie

Yes, and it was Jansons, an excellent conductor (the symphony players really like the man) who was Latvian (and I think, I'm not sure living in Estonia) who's accent was the same for "moose and squirrel" …

He never saw the cartoon and had no social reference for what people were asking him to say. He admitted this in an interview before a concert in Heinz Hall and even that day when he said those three word, you could hear in his voice the puzzlement as to even why it got a giggle from the audience. He still had never seen the cartoon and I seem to remember that when he did see the cartoon, he was puzzled because the Cold War and the threat of Soviet domination was gone. Ricky and Bullwinkle doesn't make sense without the Soviet Union.

Now as for the MOOSE AND SHARK… the head line that inspired this lovely and now destroyed memory

are just to delightful to pass by...

I mean, I didn't know that moose took long solitary walks on the shore.

I didn't know that sharks stalked moose… What do they do? Hang out in the shallows and jump on an eight or nine foot tall creature that has been know to total a car when they get hit. I mean a moose is around a half ton or so of beast.

And then there's the concept of reaching down a shark's throat and stimulating its regurgitation reflex while it is choking on a rotting moose carcass… Oh lord does that sound like the plot of another really bad SyFy movie?

I mean how many people get to utter the words:

"I see a passed-out shark on the beach with a moose carcass sticking out of its mouth?"

and not say "get me my machete and let's have shark steak for dinner!"

Is there a city ordinance I don't know about that forbids the eating of shark on Tuesdays or forbids hauling fish out of water.

And what about that breathing thing?

I mean it's common for some of you CAT people to say "The cat just horked up a hairball."

But I will bet none of you ever said -- "That Shark just horked up a moose." ever before in your lives…
