Almost Human
My son and I watched the first installment last night and have the TV tuned in for part 2.
It is a very different kind of show that you know what is going to happen before it starts because well its TV.
Just how many ways can you tell the same cop story? The names and places and even the time has changed to protect the guilty but even though its a brand new show, it sure feels like a rerun.
Worth watching if you like Dirty Harry revised.

Re: Almost Human
There's a conspiracy theory raging around the internet about this show.
It has to do with BLADE RUNNER.
That was a movie.

Re: Almost Human
"Blade Runner" was about Replicants, artificially created lifeforms, including humans.
What's the theory? I haven't seen that one yet.

Well Dorian was an artificially created life form. Half the police are artificial.
Sex workers are artificial.
many things in that world of 2048 are not real or are so fake as to be almost real?
And there is a walled off portion with lots of rejects.
And now for the SPOILER…
SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!
What if John Urban (the John Kennex character) is not human?
Like Harrison Ford (Rick Deckard the BLADE RUNNER) wasn't human.
That was the ultimate storyline of BLADE RUNNER.

Re: Almost Human
There were some good one liners in the show, enough to watch again. As for FOX and new series this one is much better then others they have tried. They don't seem to have a great record with SciFi do they?

Re: Almost Human
Dammit!! I wanted to watch this show. When I saw the ad my first thought was "Sounds like a revisit of Mann and Machine." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mann_%26_Machine

RiverAnd then there was Motoko Kusanagi, who questioned if she is still human or not.
The man and machine theme is age old, starting in movies probably with Metropolis.
I wonder, is this one worth watching?

Re: Almost Human
I watched the one hour two day opener, missed the second week, watched tonight.
It is just another cop move with good cop/bad cop routine.
Sigh

THere are obvious similarities between BLADE RUNNER and ALMOST HUMAN.
Aside from them, the rumor I referred to was that the Karl Urban character Kennex is the latest model of robot made more human-like than Dorian That results in his semi-good artificial leg and his memory problems and his just plain bitchy personality...
It was thought for a time that Deckar in Blade Runner was also a replicant but then someone counted properly and discovered all of the replicants were accounted for at the end of the film...
