On the now closed DOMA thread, there were a few posts on the cost of getting married and how cheap some of us bastards are. I was tempted to add me $0.02, but that brought thoughts of my ex- and the cost of the other end of marriage: divorce. I have been married for many years now to current wife (the one with the avatar tits) and they have not all been smooth sailing, hunkey dory years. In fact, there was a period that I was tempted to talk to wifie and say we needed to talk about separation, counseling or divorce. I would be in bed with those thoughts, but they were set aside by a family photo on the dresser taken at a Mexican wedding showing the four of us (two kids) in a pose that I would like shown on my obituary. In one photo it seems to capture why all the ups and downs are worthwhile. That difficult period has passed and we are back to me telling my wife "Fuck you" in the morning and meaning it and telling her "Fuck you" in the evening and doing it.

This is not meant to be a political thread. I am just curious how long term gay couples make it through all the ups and downs thru the years. I really do not believe that long term relationships are smooth sailing, no matter the orientation, etc. etc.

Yes, we gay folks have our ups and downs too. For us the marriage debate can sometimes be summed up as we want the right to be just as miserable as straight couples.

My current gripe is lack of sex. I mean, come on... get your dick out and use it on me once in a while. I'm too young to be going a month or longer between sexual encounters. I try to initiate, nothing. I parade around naked, nothing. I play with myself in front of him, nothing. I can't seem to get him interested. Forget about him initiating sex. *ugh*

I still love him and have thus far been unwilling to cheat. But my will power is waning and we're going to need to have a conversation soon before I do something I might later regret.

Yes I can attest to the ups and downs of marriage, I got rid of mine after 18 wonderful fight filled years, that was 25 wonderful years ago. I have never thought of getting married again, ever.

It amuses me, LT, to hear bi-guys complaining about lack of sex. I suppose total satisfaction is just not in the cards for most humans and we have to judge things by the total package.
