I'm typical of a lot of older men on this site. My wife's libido declined markedly after menopause, but mine was still quite active at the time. This imbalance was really hard on both of us. Although I never sought sex outside marriage I came to recognize that the drive was not only strong, but that I didn't want it any longer. This impression was confirmed as my testosterone declined naturally over time and I felt better rather than worse. There were still flare-ups which made me steadily more aware that this was beyond my control and unwelcome.

Now that I'm in my third week on Androcur I feel like an entirely new person. Libido declined rapidly, no erections and very little desire to stimulate one. My mind is more "quiet", as though someone turned down a constant annoying noise. My wife and I have always had a great relationship and acknowledging that neither of us wants to have sex is truly liberating. I know that bad side-effects could very well happen over time, but I hope they are not bad. I would love to be a no-T eunuch if that would keep me in this new state without drugs. Regardles, I'm enjoying my holiday from T.

Nature seems to agree with you Philthelast in castrating older men. Most men do experience dropping testosterone levels much lower than when they were younger. And many older men experience gradual and milder versions of the changes of castration in their bodies, sex drive, virility, and lack of T just from aging alone.

I finally got rid of mine at 70. Wish I had found CaCl years ago.

My view is better late than never.

I found CaCl at 52 and wish it could have been earlier but am glad it has been almost 5 years now!

I was castrated at age 71.

I had radiation for prostate cancer in 2006. It cured the cancer but caused collateral damage that went on for quite a while afterward. Rectal bleeding, blood in my urine & strictures in my urethra. My T levels slowly dropped to the high 100s. Somehow I still had enough libido to stay interested but it became more difficult to satisfy it. The usual simple hand flogging no longer worked but I found that activity like tightly binding my genitals and related activity did. Then in 2012 I found EA and followed it out of curiosity. I also found a eunuch about the same age from my area on another website and began communicating with him. I call him my "eunuch mentor". I started seriously considering castration for a number of reasons. At first it was just something else to do to my genitals but then I rationalized that being without the distraction of a libido might not be such a bad idea. I began injecting Everclear and over a few months it worked. The urologist agreed to castrate me 2 1/2 yrs. ago. I didn't want any TRT and both the urologist and primary care doctor thought it was OK because of the increased risk of heart and/or a stroke. My libido is non existent, my PSA is consistently very low and I'm a happier person with absolutely no regrets. I'm also the 1st to admit I probably wouldn't feel this way If I were younger but now it surely is right for me.

Very similar here. Lowering my testosterone definitely saved my marriage. At first my wife was skeptical, but within a few months as my testosterone and libido tanked, she became a huge fan. This was just as the side effects were kicking in. She was great supporting me. I would have stopped our "trial" several times during the first six months with out her support.

After four years, she became concerned about long-term use of hormones. She suggested permanent. Glad she did.

Hmm... castrated about 60, and loathed the idea, but adapted to the necessity, and now happily so at 70.

Have had periods of full replacement T, to the delight of my wife, who at other times prefers me T-less for most of a year at a time. Fortunately I don't get depressed from no T, though a lazy month seems to be expected in the transition.

We often discuss how we fluctuate in our wishes, but it is good to remember also that we have partners.

In common with many eunuchs, it seems, often I get the wish for further surgery. I now have no scrotum -to the great satisfaction of both of us. There have been other times when we both think that having enjoyed many stages of life, that we would like me to progress to a nullo stage while still we have life and health. I'll not do it unless both of us consistently want it, and she understands as much as I have learned about it and the consequences.

This whole journey has brought us closer and more aware that while it may be my wish -consistent in at least some degree- to enjoy a stage of life as a no-T nullo, the joint decision to actually do it is not that simple.

One discussion was at what age would a man ideally need to be castrated to enjoy the longest sex life and having kids, but still minimize his risks for prostate cancer if prostate cancer is common and fatal in the men in his family tree ?
