Orchitectomy on Old people

I am 41 and was castrated by my Urologist 23 days ago. During my 1st appointment with him for severe pain in both testicles, he repeatedly said that if I were in my 70's he would just remove my testicles. At first he refused even thinking about doing that on a 41 year old. He eventually did it though, after sending me through countless tests, scans, labs, etc..

I guess when I was 41 age 70 did seem old. Doesn't seem quite so old anymore.

I was castrated at age 67. Now 76, I would not go back to having testers again. Mine were removed because of excessive pain (by the second urologist. My daughter's only comment was "Dad, you're old enough you don't need them anymore anyway". Second urologist agreed as long as I went on HTR, So, I have. I guess if I could go off it I would. A doctor friend told me I was iold enought I didn't need the testosterone anyway. But, I am afraid of excessive weight gain and with arthritis in my lower soine, I do not need to carry around any excessive weight.

I also suffered with testicular pain for a long time as a result of a vasectomy. I saw 2 urologists. The first one told me the problem was in my back without even doing an examination, so I left and never went back. The second one was pretty good as he did a thorough examination and put me on antibiotics and anti inflammatories and sent me for an ultrasound. I would have gone back to him, but due to the fact that I was working shifts at the time and could not get time off to make an appointment on the days that he was in his rooms, I did not go back.

Then I read about Calcium Chloride here on the forum and decided to try this route. I did an injection just before Christmas and another one 10 days later. I had been seeing my GP for the problem as well and after the second injection I went to the ER and got referred to my current urologist. I had 2 sets of scans done about a month apart and took these to the urologist. He put the scans up on the board, took one look at them and turned to me and told me that in his opinion, my testicles should be removed, which they were on March 15th this year. I am on Axiron, 2 pumps per day and I feel great and no pain and still totally functional.

My wife was totally supportive as she also understands the pain issue, having to have a radical hysterectomy in 2004. She is also on HRT and all is well in that department for both of us. We joke that we have the pleasure equipment left but no baby making equipment.

My advice if you have a pain problem, get then removed ASAP and if you can't get a urologist to do it for the pain, then read the calcium chloride thread from start to finish and do this, it will damage your testicles to the extent that a urologist will happily remove them for you.

I'm 65 now, and my father had prostate cancer that spread to his bladder. Maybe my urologist would consider that when deciding to grant my request to be castrated. Too late for my father.

I had mine removed by Dr. Kimmel back in 2008 at age 66. I wanted them gone since 1975, but could not find a doctor. My decision was based on libido reduction not cancer.

My father had prostrate cancer when he was in his 60's. His vanity made the decision to not have surgery and it cost him his life as the cancer spread to his bladder etc. I am now in my 60's, and will discuss this with my urologist. Perhaps he will do the oriectomy under those circumstances.
