Oral Testosterone
I have been wondering whether an oral med for replacement of testosterone has been perfected? A Dr. friend said that the oral type is dangerous for the liver. Since estrogen is available for women as an oral med. when will or has been an oral TRT been accomplished?

Testosterone is available in pill form. That particular form is indeed hard on the liver. Result seems to be that no one is interested in following up when injectables and gels do a much better job without the hepatic issues.

Re: Oral Testosterone
Thanks, Kristoff. Sometimes I think it would be easier to swallow a pill than rub on the gel. But, I don't want to damage my liver. I had been asking the web about it. I found on Medicinenet (www.medicinenet.com) about a new one that had come out called testosterone undecanoate-oral capsules that has (supposedly) corrected the liver problem. Notice I say "supposedly" because WebMD had nothing on this pill, capsule. Or at least when I asked WebMd nothing came back. I will just have to stay with AndroGel.

With a pill, you have to remember to take it at regular intervals, just like any other pills.

Re: Oral Testosterone
Testosterone undecanoate is not sold in USA or Canada but they sell it in europe and in central america since 2004. It is marketed in capsule and also injection (Nebido, 1 vial per shot), they have longer lasting effect than testosterone enanthate, one injection last 3 months. I've been using Nebido for 3 years now and I like it better than Androgel. Last year I had my T level tested right before the next injection and it was still within normal range at 375 (12,75). There is a peak of testosterone 2 weeks after the injection that last 2-3 weeks (more frequent erections). I've heard that some body builders use Nebido shots every month without problem. I've used Andriol (pills) without success for 6 months but I've never heard of any ones using it as TRT. This can be different with the capsules, I guess they might be good if you want to remain on low T level.

Re: Oral Testosterone
I just went to nebido.com and just from the front page it looks promising. The androgel 1.62 commerical here in the states just doesn't sell it well at all.

Re: Oral Testosterone
Androgel (most expensive) works fine but its use is limited, after application, you must wait 4 hours before to take a shower or go in a swimming pool and for those you sweat a lot during the summer it's not very efficient. It's not recommended to to have sex with a woman without taking a shower first, to avoid transferring testosterone to her. Testim (less expensive than Androgel) is even worse cause it takes longer to dry and when you sweat your shirt will stick to your skin, not pleasant at all.

Re: Oral Testosterone
Thanks everyone. My doctor switched me to Fortesta f and I had poor results from it. My Testosterone level was 180 ng/dl when I went back to him. That made him unhappy. I did not like putting on my legs. Also took a long time to dry. Actually I felt grat at 180. I am on AndroGel 1.62 right now. One dose is less that two doses of the 1.0 (20.25mg vs 25mg. Althoiugh I am supposed to use two squirts of the 1.62 I will only use one. That would keep me closer to what I am using right now. Oh, and the Dr. did say that others who tried the Fortesta were unhappy with it. He wants to see me in six months instead of 12 but that is due to some other pain issues that have arisen.

You should try Androforte 5% which you can order online. The manufacturer in Australia figured out how to make the cream so it doesn't irritate skin, and therefore it can be rubbed directly on the scrotum. The reason why this is important is that scrotum skin is much more absorbant. With other gels rubbed on stomach and thighs they are purposefully telling you to put it on your tougher skin (to avoid irritation) but then it wastes a lot of the medicine.
I totally recommend it, much better than the Testim or Androgel. I've also had no problem ordering it online in US.
Back to the topic of oral hormones -- basically everything taken orally gets processed by the liver, and many medications cause liver stress, in particular hormones. In bodybuilders, the main bad effect is from liver failure and that is due to oral testosterone. In steroid forums you can find out more about which steroids are supposedly harsher than others, but from my study they all will stress your liver to some degree.
Injection and creams bypass the liver, and therefore are safer (from that respect -- injections have risk of infection, and also allergic reaction to the carrier).

Re: Oral Testosterone
Thanks for that input SplitDik. I will research it. Do you need a prescription to get it? Since I don't have a scrotum any more, I guess it could be applied to the area formerly housing the scrotum.
