Problems with the poll

That poll on the opening page of the archive? Whenever I try to vote, I get the following message...

"You have already voted, your vote is being ignored. Please click here to continue."

Except that I have NOT already voted. Please see if somebody can correct this problem so I can vote also.

hmmm ... that IS weird. The vote blocking function is unique to each poll ID so in theory should reset when the new poll goes up.

I know I voted in the last poll and again in the newest one with no problems.

I am out of town for a few days but I will certainly check into it when I get back.

I had the same problem with the new transportation poll. Got "Already Voted" message when I had not previously voted.

Tried to vote in the poll about what to do with spammers....I voted to boil them in tar....or would have except I once again got the message that I had already voted, even though I had not done so. Still a bug somewhere.

Tried your suggestion to delete cookies. I did. I was surprised at HOW MANY there were. But when I tried to vote, same "already voted" response. And when I accessed the EA today at 4:15 PM PST, I had to log in all over again. O well, I'm not going to bother any more. Some bugs you just have to live with.

I also note that some had problems with APRIC chat with AOL 7.0 and higher. I have no problems with APRIC chat, but I've stuck with AOL 5.0

Well, we are still investigating.

There have been - literally - no programming changes to the index or to the polls in .... forever.

I am stumped but still poking around under the hood to see what's going on.

The same thing happened with the Santa poll. I received

the message that I had already voted

when it was my first attempt to vote.

Today, Sunday, 2 February 2003, for reasons I do not know, I tried to vote in the new poll and it worked. I was also able to post a messsage. Whatever the glitch was, it has gone for the moment.

Again, I can't vote in the latest poll. Apparently the cookies were not reset when this poll was posted.
