Re: Epididymitis
The nerve block started to wear off this afternoon and now I'm back taking the pain meds again hopefully I can make it to Friday when I see him I'm going to to insist that I have been through enough pain and want it removed ASAP. If he doesn't do it maybe I need to get a new urologist to do it.

I think you do need a new doctor or the back up one. It appears your urologist may have tunnel vision when it comes to treating you. It can be hard to get them to change their mind as it implies that they have made the wrong decision in the first place. I had a big problem with that. My urologist swayed all the others in his group, so getting a second opinion was a joke. One of them wouldnt even see me. The one that did, repeated what he had already said, like a recording. He is quite senior and is the owner of the specialist group. Non would dare go against him. In this small country it is virtually impossible to find an alternative. Knowing what I know now, I would have been better off persuing the scrotum removal thru cosmetic/ plastic surgeons. Gender reassignment surgeons are pretty much non existant. I really hope you have more of a choice Chesley. Just give this doctor another go at changing his mind. All the best, Kia kaha, Brycee

Re: Epididymitis
The pain has gotten a lot better and the swelling is all gone now but my testicle is to have hard now and has no give to it when I press on it. I think all the pain was it dieing and with the nerve removed I now can't feel it anymore. It's kinda scary that he might not remove it now because the pain has gotten better. If he doesn't do anything I'm going to see another urologist I saw a good one in the past and I will be setting up an appointment if he doesn't do anything. I feel very uncomfortable with it in me now the way it is now.

Re: Epididymitis
pain came back two days after writting that and hasn't stopped. been taking naproxen 500 mg twice a day and that only takes the edge off the pain. have pain clinic march 11 to see what they will do and will see the urologist march 12 and i will be telling him i don't want pain management i want it removed i don't want to live on pain meds for the rest of my life. if he won't do it i'm going to someone else and have them do it. i've been in pain since december 29 2018 and had the right testicle removed february 10 and have had nothing but problems since. some doctors want to save your balls so much that they are willing to let you suffer in pain trying everything to save it.

Re: Epididymitis
Sorry to hear about the pain. I had one "pain" and one "lump". It was instructive to see the difference in approach. In the doc's book "lump" means get it out. Everything else stays in.
I persisted, and so should you. Eventually they did the right thing for both. No pain and no lumps for many years now.

Hey Daifu, I persisted with the pain and the doctor's best efforts for four years. Yes! they do the right thing, eventually. Some times you have to force their hand to get a result. By all accounts, my balls, though hard and sore, looked 'normal' under ultrasound. It is their intepretation and training that leads them to their conclusion. The real world, was what I was dealing with. I got my result, Never looked back, Yow!

Re: Epididymitis
Chesleyt, I'm not sure whether it's in your best interests to wait for the pain clinic or the urologist. It sounds like the urologist previously sidestepped you, by turning you over to a nurse on his staff, who ignored or wasn't able to act on your complaints of pain. I know nothing about the number of urologists in your area, or whether the urologists are all part of the same group, but if there is a chance of quickly getting in to see your primary care physician (PCP), and then another urologist who is not affiliated or connected in any way with the first, maybe that's what you should do. Perhaps you can get in right away to see the PCP, and then based on your complaints, he or she might be able to get you in quickly to that different urologist.
Of course, if you can't get in to see your PCP, or if there are effectively no other urologists to go to, then this won't work.
Even if you can't get into your PCP soon enough to do anything before March 11 or 12, it might help you to have your PCP aware of all your problems and thinking about referring you to a different urologist, just in case your current urologist sticks with his treatment plan of trying to preserve your remaining testicle.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Re: Epididymitis
My PC is in the same network as the urologists and there's no others available in network. I saw another urologist in the past and I am waiting for the pain clinic results and what my urologist does before persueing another urologist so I have documentation that I've gone through the process and I won't have to do it again. I'm going to insist that I don't want to b
Life and have thought out my request for removing my remaining testicle. I don't see why that is an unreasonable request seeing that removing the right testicle has left me pain free. Also my left testicle has gotten rock hard and is cold to the touch now. I'm going to try and reason with him.

Re: Epididymitis
Chesleyt, So sorry to hear about all your pains and suffering. I agree with Rory Smoot, Seems like your urologist not only got tunnel vision. With all the infections from the first operation and for doing all that cutting without anesthesia, I can't say I have much faith in him at all. If he won't remove the left testicle, then I would definitely consider another network as long as your insurance covers it. You have suffered enough. It's time the doctors really solve the problem once and for all. You totally deserve that. Hope you get well very soon.
I am developing epididymitis myself, and your journey made me shiver.
