Weak Urine Flow

Since my castration about 1 year ago I have noticed that it takes me a lot longer to urinate. Even though I will have to go very badly the stream is very weak and it seems to take forever. Is this related to castration? and if so, why? Has anyone else experienced this issue? I just want to make sure everything is ok.

It is more likely due to an enlarged prostate. See your doctor for an evaluation.

Are you taking replacement T.?

I tend to agree with Mac on this one.

However, if you are not, you should not be having prostate enlargement.

I don't think I've ever read of the urinary sphincter simply refusing to open enough without that?

Urologist told me a few days ago that all men eventually have enlargement of the prostate. It can occur at any age 40, 60, 80.... No T will shrink the prostate. Like the urinary spjincter, the bladder iteself is essentially a muscle. It can become enlarged, lose its ability to function normally, as well in contracting to expell urine, There are medicines available to help with this (i.e., Flow-Max), assuming there is not another problem. See your doctor, get a urology referral.

Thank you for the advice. I do not take any hormones. I was always under the assumption that without T the prostate would shrink a lot. I thought that maybe a smaller prostate was causing this to happen. Does anyone know the side effects of a shrunken prostate? I am having a hard time locating anything on line.

I have some of this going on. For me it's an issue of if I've waiting to find a bathroom or not. If I'm on a long car trip and wait to stop, then I usually have some issues with this. When I was working as a nurse, I'd be so overwhelmed with work I would often wait to use the restroom and have the same problem. For me it's a function of how full my bladder is at the time. So the first time my body tells me I need to pee, I try to get somewhere and pee.

Sadly, men's Depends to the rescue. So demeaning. So necessary unfortunately.

As a eunuch I pee like a 17 year old. Some sinus decongestant medications can cause problems with urination. Are you taking any meds since some do cause problems with urination? Read the side effects of any medications you might be taking. I find it odd that you have more trouble with a drop of T than before.

I have off again/on again urine flow changes. My personal doctor says my prostate is probably the smallest and softest she has encountered in an adult. I haven't any real answers as to why the urine flow is sometimes low although I suspect that when I have been sexually aroused (as limited as that is) for a few days is when the restriction occurs. --FLO--

Including good reasons to reduce or eliminate testosterone, and reasons to have the prostate removed before it causes problems.

Of course, the medical system will only treat you once problems arise; there is no such thing as preventative treatment, such as removing testes or prostate in older men to eliminate risk of serious issues, including cancer.
