Eunuch Health Care Provider

Post by devi (imported) »

I was just kind of wondering with the new health care act coming along next year or the year after and many of us becoming eligible for affordable health care hopefully, if anyone has ever looked into getting some type of health care specifically geared toward us as eunuchs. The fact is that we do have different needs and cares than either women or men. Whereas we do have many things in common with women we certainly don't have any concerns with the workings of an internal reproductive system. And since we are different then men too then health care providers would miss our problems too. I know one problem that I have had when I went to health fairs is that as a male I'm not allowed to get a mammogram even though I know I'm susceptible to breast cancer almost as much as women are. And I don't need the prostate exam either. But osteoporosis and diabetes are great concerns of mine much of it because of family history.

I get regular medical coverage as a male. But I did mention osteoporosis and bone scans. I am mildly type 2 diabetic. She is also aware of heart concerns with eunuchism. Just be proactive and tell them. If they don't listen demand another doctor.

I don't think there was any special problems for health care for eunuchs even before the wondrous and inexpensive new law. I got everything necessary including tests for testosterone and prescription for it that I could have filled and bone density exams every 2 years. I also get PSA tests and the anal fingering. I do take a daily female multi-vitamin and additional calcium, plus fish oil and iron. So things are a mix of male and female things but obummercare hasn't changed anything for me.

My doctor seems to take my nutless state into consideration easily. My only complaint is that my insurer will not cover bone density tests for males. She (my doctor) has sneaked in several partial, one limb at a time, bone density tests under the radar of the insurance people. --FLO--

When I read an expression such as "Eunuch Health Care Provider" I'm puzzled. I'm unaware of any health care provider who works exclusively with eunuchs as, one supposes, a specialist to whom one is referred. I happened to see my physician today about a mastoid problem and....never has he done anything differently for me than if I had my testicles. I have to take testosterone as part of the UCLA protocol to reduce spasming caused by MS and therefore have more sexual feelings than otherwise. Beyond that, what he does for me is precisely what he would do for any other patient with similar condtions. Indeed, just because I've chosen to be a eunuch I would hope not be marginalized on what was a personal decision affecting virtually no one else. So to feel I had to find a "Eunuch Care *Provider" would suggest to me that I've not accepted myself as I am.

I have a female GP who, I believe, because of her gender, is more understanding of my status as a eunuch. I mentioned getting a bone scan to her and she stated that it is typically done for women 65 year of age and older and didn't think that I would need one until I was that age, especailly since I am very healthy and am already taking supplemental calcium to help maintain bone health (as well as using testosterone).

You should get one anyway, as a baseline record of where you've been.

assuming you go on medicare this year , you can get a medical evaluation. Don't wait for doctors to suggest or recommend. Tell them what you want, in a nice way of course.

It's your body. Be your own advocate. if you have had a history of low testosterone, under medicare there should be no trouble establishing a base line, and then having it checked every few years. Once some deterioration is determined, more frequent testing, and some treatment would then be in your best interests. Seek all the treatment you want............if medicare does not cover it, all they can do is tell you it is not covered; then you need to decide if you can or want to pay for it. One way or another, when you have a condition that should be tested, go for it. If you lounge around wondering, tests and treatments won't just come to you; you gotta be the one to pursue them . PS: I really don't think I could have a female GP...........but maybe my attitude about that might change when I finally get clipped.

One other thing about special or ordinary heath care for eunuchs. Seems like most everyone on EA is, or want to be, a voluntary eunuch. Don't forget that hundreds of thousands of men have been castrated due to cancer, or some other testicle medical malady. And every year, more and more men become eunuchs because of medical conditions. Probably most of these men are not gay. So, while being a eunuch isn't the kind of thing men, gay or straight, talk about, or brag about, doctors encounter men who have been castrated for one reason or another, and any doctor, male or female, worth his diploma will just take it in stride. Granted, if it become known to your doctor that you became castrated voluntarily, that may affect their attitude towards you, but it should certainly not affect how you are medically treated. Got a lousy doctor? Get referrals if possible from other eunuchs, or at the very least, other gay people in your community or at a LGBT Center. Even as a small group, voluntary eunuchs are not alone. Help is somewhere out there but it won't come knocking at your door (or e-mail, or social media account). You got to be proactive.
