Siberia on NBC

Post by artisticlicense (imported) »

Anyone see Siberia (http://www.nbc.com/siberia/) 'reality' show on NBC last night?

Thought it might be interesting, although I'm not much of a reality show fan.

The promo's showed some cute 'contestants' and intriguing clips.

What an interesting ending....

Is it fake or reality (http://www.salon.com/2013/07/02/on_fake ... _villain_m ight_be_the_camera/)? Is it a game show or hoax? Can you say 'Blair Witch?

NBC will encore the Pilot episode 7/5 and 7/6, with 2nd episode airing on Monday 7/8.

It's opposite UNDER THE DOME and both are opposite MAJOR CRIMES. So I will watch SIBERIA sometime this week from a repeat of ON DEMAND.

MAJOR CRIMES is on TNT and they are civilized and repeat the 9pm show at 11pm. So I can watch Rachel Maddow.

I'm so spoiled with Comcast's On Demand service.

I have read nice things about it.

It's fiction.

Just watched the DVR.

Y'know I will trade live Siberia for live Dome next week.

Seems like a reality series but, isn't.

The first two eliminated because they were the last to arrive during a sprint to the camp included a great Nordic babe named Berglind. Real name Berglind Icey What legs. What a ๐Ÿช†

http://www.nbc.com/siberia/about/bio/ca ... ey/769612/

You can do a search and find lots of her model images.

Not the same as roughing it in shorts and designer hiking boots. ๐Ÿ‘…

Well maybe the plot of the mock reality show will leave the two eliminated contestants including Ms. Icey, stranded too.

I can hope ๐Ÿ“

And there were twists at the end and scenes from next week I am not going to "spoiler" at the moment.

Moi

Siberia is 4 / 5 watch worthy. ๐Ÿ™‡ ๐Ÿ™‡ ๐Ÿ™‡ ๐Ÿ™‡

It will beat dome for my attention next week.

Saturday's pilot episode repeat will air on SiFi Channel. Moi may not have to skip Under the Dome. They may show the series on SiFi all summer. [SiFi is an NBC entity.]

I too like Major Crimes, and Under the Dome.

Love the DVR. I can record 3 shows at once, if the time schedules are compatible. You have to add a couple minutes on some of them, or you miss the endings.

CBS is bad about running shows over the time slot [ends late].

Glad TNT has Major Crimes on repeat.

Is Siberia reality TV?

Never seen it, but I think I can answer the question. All reality TV is scripted. Watch the credits. They have writers, same as any other TV show. Situations are designed carefully. Scripts are written. Retakes are common, so they get the best angle, delivery, whatever.

Joe Rogen used to get very upset when people called Fear Factor, reality TV. He was very clear. Fear Factor was a game show, and he refused to use scripts like they did on those reality programs.

I hate to break it people, but pro wrestling is fake too.

You want unscripted TV? Watch the news, or a documentary. Though, even those have writers, and a story to tell.

I may have to check out this, Siberia. Sounds interesting.

OMG -- you mean all those years I watched Bruno Sanmartino and Krusher Kizowski and Killer Kowalski and Jumpin' Johhny DeFazio they were fake? My childhood is ruined, dashed up on the rocks of lies and the shoals of untruths...

(pardon my silliness)

SIBERIA was set up to look like a reality show and in the previews and promos they played up that situation.

It's definitely not a reality show. It is a bit of a slow start but watch it and figure it out for yourself.

BTW - I came back to add...

In college I attended a taping of CHILLER THEATER at the studios of then WIIC and now WPXI in Pittsburgh.

The "stage" ring for their STUDIO WRESTLING show was sitting in the same studio and the audience of the show that look like six or eight rows of fans was in actuality a stage set with on row of real people and five rows of painted flats... The audience was a lighting effect and so were the cheers.

It was fun to watch but we never believed in any which way.

Didn't anyone check out Berglind Icey and her leggy contribution to the show? :-\

I do not believe Survivor is scripted. I accept it is "chips fall where they may".

As I understand, these Siberia "Survivors" are expected to make it through the end of Winter but believed help would always be "hours away". Not immediate.

They will enter the Twilight Zone. Stranded as a reality TV series in Siberia with no support.

I am not sure, that's just my guess. And maybe the two eliminated members including ๐Ÿ“

Bergi, will wander back to camp never having made it out. One can hope.

I did watch this episode and it's everything of a reality show that I hate ---

--the insipid dialogue

--the shaky camera effect... along with running through the woods like an errant roller coaster

--the out of focus camera

--The idiotic challenge of walking in mud puddles

--the stupidity of eating mushrooms (bright red with white spots and saying you have to boil them to make them nonpoisonous) Seriously? That's a pile of shit

--twelve beds for fourteen people

--A mysterious contestant who is always aware of things before they happen.

--weird noises in the woods
