best method for changing driver's license picture in CA?

Hi all, I'm a kinda-physical-transitioner (been on medium-low-dose estrogen for a while), and was harassed for not looking like my DL today when picking up a package from the UPS (it's understandable they want to verify my identity, though giving me shit about it and then giving me the package anyway seemed odd).

What's the best way to get a new DL picture? Do I pretend I lost it? Should I get a new passport with my DL, then a new DL with the new passport? (my old one was of me when I was really young.) Tell them at the DMV office I'm transgender and want a new picture? (I live in Oakland, CA, it might be okay.) I don't desire to change the sex/gender designation, I just want one where the picture looks like me.

Just go in and tell them you're being questioned and ask for a replacement. Take other ID too. They should replace it, for a fee, no problem.
