An unidentified man told police he cut his own penis off because “George Bush made him do it.”

Lorain Police were called to 21st and Access streets around 1 p.m. Tuesday to remove a man refusing to get off a train.

When they arrived, the man told police he cut his own penis off with a hacksaw, said Lorain Police Detective Buddy Sivert.

Police found the penis by the railroad tracks after checking the area.

No drugs or anything suspicious was found at the scene, Sivert said.

The man was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

LORAIN — A man claiming he was a drifter hacked off his own penis because “George Bush made him do it,” police said.

Police were called to 21st and Access streets around 1 p.m. Tuesday after a train conductor said a man was masturbating by the train.

When they arrived, the 30-year-old man from Pennsylvania led police on a short foot chase through the train carts until he finally surrendered, said Lorain police detective Buddy Sivert.

“We noticed he had blood on his groin area so we called LifeCare,” he said. “He was only wearing shoes and a pair of shorts. When the medic asked him what happened, he said he cut off his penis with a hacksaw.”

No hacksaw was recovered, but Sivert said police did locate glass with some blood on it.

The penis was located 100 feet from where the man was apprehended, police said.

“We found it near the rocks by the tracks,” said Lorain Police Detective Jake Morris.

Police were not sure where the man was coming from or how long he was on the train.

“My concern is he may have done something else and he is running from that,” Sivert said. “He wouldn’t tell us where he was from. When we asked he said ‘the world was his home.’”

Nothing illegal or suspicious was found on the man’s possession, but authorities say drugs may be a factor in causing the incident.

“His behavior, his speech and the fact that he mutilated himself made us to believe it was possibly drug related,” Sivert said.

At this time, the man is not facing any charges from Lorain Police. But the railroad company could press charges for trespassing, Sivert said.

Why did he use a hacksaw? A utility knife would have been better. If he wasn't on drug, he has probably a mental illness. Weird!
