Can BPA give you man boobs? According to a new report in the journal Reproductive Toxicology, early exposures to the chemical commonly found in canned foods (short for bisphenol-A) could promote abnormal breast growth in boys and adult men.

Researchers exposed male mice to very low doses of BPA, and found that the mice went on to have enlarged mammary tissue in adulthood, explains study author Laura Vandenberg, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow of biology at the Center for Developmental and Regenerative Biology at Tufts University.

“This study provides additional evidence that the mammary gland is exceptionally sensitive to low doses of BPA when exposures occur during early development,” she says. “What is different about this study is that it is the first to suggest that the male mammary gland could be affected by BPA exposures.”

The study also gives additional evidence that environmental chemicals could play a role in gynecomastia, a condition that causes abnormal breast growth in boys and men, and one that may cause significant emotional distress, Vandenberg says.

BPA has already been linked to breast and prostate cancers, heart and kidney damage, behavioral problems, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. It’s a chemical that’s currently produced at a high rate, with about 6 billion tons produced throughout the world annually. The quantities are staggering, considering that a miniscule amount could cause permanent damage.

BPA is so commonly used in consumer products that it’s actually starting to invade our environment, where its effects have been noted. Now detected in air, sand, and water, the chemical acts like a synthetic estrogen; even tiny doses of it could alter your body’s ability to regulate natural bodily functions.

About a dozen states have taken measures to remove BPA from baby bottles, sippy cups, or the lining of baby formula cans, but researchers agree that this is only solving one part of the problem. Since of the most damaging exposure happens prenatally, if a pregnant mother ingests BPA, it could spark damage in her child that may not show up for decades.

The wave of evidence suggesting BPA problems in men, women, and children isn’t expected to subside anytime soon. The number of studies reporting low-dose problems with BPA exposure in laboratory animals continues to climb, and more studies looking at the chemical’s impacts on the metabolic and immune systems, brain development, and reproduction are expected to come out by year’s end.

To protect your family from harmful BPA chemicals and replacements, avoid eating and drinking from plastic containers, and if you must use them, never heat the plastic in the dishwasher or microwave—doing so accelerates chemical leaching. Say no to receipts you don’t need, since BPA or potentially harmful BPA replacements are used to coat the paper and can seep into your skin. Choosing fresh or frozen vegetables and other foods instead of canned will also reduce your exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals.

A lot of (genetic males) get them at some point with hormones being up and down. I had them pop in and out a few times right up until starting HRT, and I was as skinny as a rake. It's usually just aromatised T apparently and it's nothing to be too worried about! :)

It is not all that uncommon for men who have been castrated as a prostate cancer control effort to develop significant gynecomastia with only testosterone reduction and without any feminizing hormones being used.

There was a lapse between my orchiectomy and my being prescribed Premarin/Provera, during which I became notably curvy.

The best general rule I have come upon yet is to expect what cannot be expected and expect to not be disappointed.

Not that it's a bad thing but lately been reaching a very good slim slim weight 135lbs 28x32 waistline (5 ft 7 inches tall)

and yet my breasts are getting firmer(my mom won't stop bugging me and threating me if I'm using hormones)

Is this really gymnocomastia?

Like I was uncertain or borderline thinking it was beforehand but maybe this must be the case.

Is this genetic?

Any other guys have this?(Pre-hrt wise?)

There are many causes of gynecomastia: chemicals, drugs, hormones, and some estrogen producing cancers just for a few. Depending on your water source it could be contaminated with estrogen from birth control pills. Also there is an genetic factor in the mix. You should see a Doctor, if you have any lumps on your testicles.

Man boobs

There are several old threads about the growing of boobs and gymnocomastia. Even one where Jesus encourages to enjoy the new boobs - too bad that I can't find it again. Jesus, can you?

I have a very low T level and have tried vegetable estrogens to get little boobs. Before I used them I felt a disk shaped lump under each of my nipples. My flat chest got indeed two mini boobs and my nipples got very puffy and very sore. The soreness vanished after stopping with the estrogens and my mini boobs partly collapsed. I can't feel the flat disk shaped lumps under my nipples anymore, disappeared under some fat I suppose.

As a 11-12 years old boy I wished to have little boobs. The wish to have boobs at that age is something different than getting them unwanted in reality.

Well it is common for castrated men to grow boobs but not for young men especially if they aren't fat. I've seen skinny teenage boys growing boobs like a girl. Oestrogen found in the enviroment, air, water and food are responsible for the lowering of men testosterone and fertility. Genetic has little to do with it but it is possible that your testes can't produce enough T. Unless one is a transgender, men (even the castrated ones) don't like to grow boobs. There are solutions to solve this problem. First you must learn to feed your self properly, avoid all food that contains soya products, all vegetable oil have oestrogenic effects, use olive oil only. Stop eating fast food and industrial food, they're well known to contain too much chemical, salt, and sugar. Eat more fish and less or no beef. Pommegranades juice and Tribulus terrestis are known to boost T level. Fat men produce less testosterone, to lose weight, search on the web for anti oestrogenic and also anti inflammatory diets, both diets are compatible. They are not restrictive diets at all. This will help you to choose the right food and avoid the bad ones. I've lost over 50 pounds within a year using these diets, I didn't eat less, I ate better. If after you regain control of your diet you still have man boobs then doctors can help you. Testosterone therapy may help you if you have a chronic testicular failure. Anti oestrogen medication such as clomiphen can be used to re start your T production and your fertility. Progesterone cream to block oestrogen, progesterone like Depot provera is used for chemical castration but in small quantity it boost T production and also stop the conversion of T into DHT and it is also an efficient oestrogen blocker.

I have now been on 5mg of proscar for over a year. There is no doubt that it has reduced the size of my prostate and made it much harder to get an erection. For my wife, the appearance of perky tits was shocking. I blamed it on the proscar but I know that part of the growth is due to my use of cypertone acetate, Depo Provera and estrogen. I am a bit overweight but am in the process of loosing a few pounds. For every pound I loose, the mboobs look bigger on my body. Even when I have stopped the other drugs, I have had to continue on the proscar. The growth is not going away. I think my mboobs are here to stay.

Good for you, the cyproterone and estrogen will absolutely do that. I have large boobs but they took a while to get there, I just say a lot of older men get large boobs (gynocomastia). I neither hide nor flaunt them even at the beach.
