An easy mistake to make?

Have you spotted any of these creatures lurking about your yard, LT?!

Once in a while we have them show up naked in our swimming pool, but that is usually because they were invited.

I bought one that has an R/F connection to the recorder. Works fine even through a couple of walls. Used it to identify the kids from the apartments behind us that were throwing rocks at our clerestory windows, identify which cat started to pee in a corner of the den, and a few other situations.

Can you point me to a link that has information on these? Do they work by battery and only come on and record when motion is detected?

I bought mine some time ago, and no, it does not work on batteries. I'll look up the manufacturer and see if they are still being made.

So Tal, could I use one of these carrier currents with an extension cord and add a motion sensor light to illuminate the right of way in back of my house? Would it be able to catch something with only the ambient light in the dark?

I'm wanting to catch the grafitti taggers that for some reason seem to tag ONLY the fence behind my house. I work hard to make my own yard a pleasant oasis, but they keep painting the fenced behind the house and ruining my hard work. I'd re-paint the neighbors fence, but all it would do at this point is provide a nice clean surface for the f**ktards to paint again. They are also tagging my fence, so I figure if I can catch them and give it to the police it would help stop them, maybe.

Walmart had motion sensing battery operated cameras for under $50 in the sporting goods department for spotting game.

I want to place a couple of outdoor wireless video cameras discretely to catch someone who is vandalizing my yard and tearing down my flag. I'd like to send the feed to a receiver indoors and video record the views. Any input - approaches, equipment, how to proceed, etc.? Novice here. (I know damn well who is doing it, I just have to be able to prove it to get her and her son tagged for vandalism, trespassing, and whatever can get thrown at them. I have to be able to conclusively prove my case because she fucks half the precinct. IAD might like to see some of that...)

Have you thought about game cameras? Take a look at Native Outdoors. (http://www.nativeoutdoors.com/scoutingcameras.html) Reasonably-priced hunter's cameras. All are motion detect - day/night, battery-powered. You may be able to find some of these locally, if you have a big sporting goods store near you.

TigerDirect has a whole bunch of security camera systems (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... ighprice=0); many under $300. Don't know what kind of situation you have in your yard or around your home for mounting, but they also have tech help with purchase.

Tempting as colored nail-boards sounds; DON'T. Anyone getting hurt on your property, regardless of why or how they were there, can expose you to liability litigation. Just take pictures, and call the law.

Fry's sells the survalence cameras that use a near infrared LED light source which the culprits can't see but the camera can. They are compact and some of them are wireless.

I have several around my property although nothing has ever happened. In one corner of my computer I can pull up the view from any of them and they're set to start taping any movement after certain hours and based on the size parameters, it will sound a chime in my computer and on my screen. They're set so that I don't see all the cats and dogs in the neighbourhood but, annoyingly, I know every kid who is taking a "shortcut". In that situation I have single frame pictures made and, when we can identify the child, they are sent to their parents with a polite note asking that they refrain from trespassing. One of them didn't believe me and was arrested. If that sounds severe, the PD told me he was already a multi time loser and they were glad to haul him in. My property is posted and a request that no tresspassing be done is prominently displayed near the foot path in front. Legally, if they should come onto my patio or veranda I can draw and shoot them. As those areas are considered "my home" and make them eligible targets. Last year when the house was substantially damaged by a tornado, within thirty minutes there were looters in my home not to mention gawkers going up and down the road. I shot two of the looters-in the butt-and although they demanded I be arrested, it was they who were hauled off and are now in prison. I have no compunction about shooting when I feel threatened or when there is a clear violation of space and property. Unfortunately MS has reduced my aim but I can still draw down and fire on a general, non terminal area. If I see a weapon drawn-of any sort- then I shoot to kill.
