You moved MOM to May first?
Damn I missed it again.
Instead of 1 Nov. Pagans celebrate Halloween. (The night before) But again I could be wrong, Sabbath for the practicing Jews starts at sundown Friday.

Where in America are you on the 5th of May.
Just because it is not a government holiday such as Halloween,
El Moi
It's about the Battle of Puebla, not 'their' independence day.
My spelling may be derelict regarding the Battle's name.

Moi, May 5th is a big holiday in the south west, but not in this part of the country, on the other hand Columbus day is a big event in Chicago. When growing up in California did we ever celebrate Columbus day?

Re: Holidays America Does Not Celebrate
Between my first and second year in Milwaukee, they got their first Taco Bell.
I went for a Beef Combo Burrito, and they portioned the beans like it was mustard.
So the beer and BBQ commercials for Cinco de Mayo don't run nation wide?
Columbus Day, wasn't it a school holiday back in the day ?
Moi
Looking for a reason to celebrate

The story goes that the Titanic sank with 50,000 cases of Helmans Mayonnaise headed for Mexico.
Mexico now celebrates a day of mourning called "Sinko de Mayo".
I asked a man at work and that's the story I got.

We don't celebrate Guy Fawkes day in this country.
Remember, remember the Fifth of November.

That joke brings back memories from when I first heard it at my sixth birthday party (that was 56 years ago).
