Another one of those holidays America ignores while the world celebrates.

We missed International Women's Day last March.

I was in former East Germany in Late April/Early May 2009 and got to see this holiday in action. I found it rather bizarre but nonetheless fascinating. I enjoy partaking in things we don't do or don't have here in the US when I have the opportunity to travel abroad.

May day is the pagan holiday celebrating Spring and fertility.

But with the Roads closed and lows in the teens, Naked dancing weaving a May pole wasn't as popular here in Laramie Wyoming this year.

I do remember as a kid that we calibrated May Day at school.

We don't celebrate Boxing Day which sounds like a great day to celebrate if you ask me.

I would imagine such things could only take place in Laramie the 2 months each year it's not covered in snow and ice. During my time there I always referred to it as Hoth.
