The British committed this action, in part, for the American destruction at Port Dover in Upper Canada.

Actually as a Canadian and a Torontonian I must respond. It was actually in revenge for the burning of York (Present day Toronto) the then and current capital of Upper Canada (Present day Ontario) on April 27, 1813. The 200th anniversary of which is just weeks away and YES we're still bitter.
Oh and BTW we did win the war of 1812. The Americans thought they would take over Canada whilst the Brits were busy fighting Napoleon in Europe.
And we all know how that turned out.
Which has nothing to do with castration whatsoever, unless someone got their balls blown off in battle.
